Considering we know Golovkin can take a punch and Eubank was a heavy but not destructive puncher - hard enough but not to knock out or stop a man who's never been down; we know Golovkin can hit exceptionally hard and has the skills to land; we know Golovkin can fight across a longer fight (thanks to Murray) and we know Eubank can be dropped late in fights after a hard fight. I honestly don't see how Golovkin doesn't win this or how the odds would favour Eubank.

It is a tough fight for both but when you have one man who doesn't like to work for all 3 minutes of every round and he is getting hit, especially to the body, regularly, with heavy punches, for the whole of each round, that tends to favour the other guy. Equally Eubank was a good boxer but he really wasn't the type to outbox, outmove, etc a top fighter. Whilst I think he'd get Golovkin's attention with his punches nothing I've seen yet suggests he'd have the power to keep Golovkin off him long enough to not ship a lot of punishment and end up either conceding late rounds to survive or being stopped.

No and I thought people were mad when they were saying he would have beaten Benn on a similar thread. GGG has fought absolutely nobody and looked easy to hit doing it.

There's a reason he hasn't moved up a weight. There's not one opponent GGG has faced that Benn or Eubank wouldn't have beaten with ease. He Imo is nowhere near the level of Hopkins, Jones, McClellan or Toney in their middle weight days.

A quality boxer who has been overhyped to the point of ridiculous due to the middle weight division being so weak. He has faced punchers, he has faced boxers, but he hasn't faced anyone who can do both.

Mad simply to say he'd beat Benn and/or Eubank?

What chances would you give him? I also recall you saying that he's nothing more than another Abraham (who had many more problems at MW than GGG has, and lacked his stamina, jab, ability to cut off the ring, etc.), but that seems to be undervaluing him to me.

I wasnt making a comparison in their styles it was a comparison between how powerful AA and GGG looked at middle weight and how dominant they both are or were in a weak division only to fail to hit the same heights at super middle.

I do not believe that GGG has the capability to dominate at Super Middle I think he struggles with a lot of the top level fighters in the division. Like I've said he's considered one of the P4P best fighters in The world by many for fighting Geale, Murray and Lemieux. Massively over hyped.

I think it's very reasonable to rank GGG as a P4P top ten fighter.

The computerized BoxRec rankings have GGG among the top P4P fighters.....how does hype factor in there?

Eubank always said he'd fight anyone if he was mandatory

No way does Golovkin have an easy night against Eubank. Nobody ever did! Not liking his persona is one thing but dismissing him as a fighter is another. He is overrated by plenty though, as are the local super middles from that era, and he did receive a couple of gifts when he fought down to his opposition imo, but I can see him doing the exact opposite in a big fight against someone like GGg and raising his game. Eubank Snr was a big fighter for the weight too.

I tink that we'd pretty much find everything we ever need to know about Golovkin in such a fight!

GGG only fought Brook the way he did (recklessly) because he knew he could ... it was an easy fight for him; Brook had limited success purely because GGG allowed it.

If Eubank Snr is serious about matching his boy against GGG, you can guarantee he will be waiting to throw the towel in a lot quicker than Ingle did for Brook.
I just don't see Eubank Jr making a good fight with GGG - it would merely be a money grabbing exercise, that would mirror the Brook contest in being stopped early.

I don't follow here. Golovkin hasn't been knocked down by Ishido, Murray, Brook et al therefore cannot be knocked down at all? I would say the jury is still out on his chin as he's never been banged in the phizog by a top middle.

That crunching Eubank overhand right decked men with more top level tested jawbones that Golovkin.

IMO Eubank jnr beats Ggg. I really like Ggg and think he's a monster but just think that jnr has the skill to upset him. The shot against Ggg is the uppercuts and jnr throws them better than anyone. He also has good movement and ring craft and throws from angles. I know people will mock it but I just have a gut feeling he does it. On the back of that I love how the Eubanks jump on any media opportunity and just end up in the papers

Seriously, are you saying Stevens and Lemiux can't punch? Both landed flush on GGG with no effect. His beard is sound.

Top 10 yes undeniably, but not the top ranked P4P fighter not by a long shot.

GGG would have outworked Eubank, Sr liked to fight in spurts, and didn't like pressure, I don't think he could have won, but it would have been competitive.

The best fight would have been nigel benn v golovkin. Exactly the type that would beat triple g. Someone that could take it and get right back on him.

Exactly how he done it against mclellan.

Dont think many would complain about paying 20 quid for that ppv either way.

McClellan came out swinging for the fences against Benn, it was a wild fight, GGG isn't that undisciplined.

Fair point. Hard to see benn v golovkin becoming anything other than a shootout in the end tho imo.

I think GGG would have outboxed him early, then as Benn tired, picked him apart.

GGG showed what he does with dangerous bangers against Lemiuex, admittedly, Benn had somewhat better skills than Lemiueux, but he was no master boxer at any stage in his career.

Eubank was slightly over rated in my book- got several gift decisions during his career and avoided top fighters like Toney, Mcallum Jackson and Graham- he would avoid Golovkin if he was active today too

I dont agree mate with all due respect. Mclellan came out swinging in the first but did actually revert back to trying to box benn not long after it. And mcllellan was actually a decent mover tbf to him. Benn dragged him back into a fight. Golvokins not as good as mclellan in terms of his defensive footwork on the backfoot.

It was actually difficult not to be dragged into a fight with benn. He punched from far out from odd angles at times. He didnt always use jabs to get his work off was mainly a hooker. It would be difficult to keep him on the end of your one two for any length of time.

I say that fight turns into a shootout from about the second round on. I m not 100 percent sure of the lemuiex fight i did watch it at the time but i m pretty sure his style of fighting was just edging up to golvokin to try to exchange with him with a jab. Golvokin will deal with that all day long. Benn could came at you with punches from angles sometimes from far out and didnt use the jab to set it up... Did lemeiux try to win a jab off opening up exchanges with golovkin? I m not sure but i m telling you now its not the right tactic against golvokin cause he has a great jab. Somehow i cant see benn doing that. How many people kept benn under control with controlled boxing. I cant think of anyone for any length of time. Not even watson who actually ended up outfighting him.

I think most would heavily favour GGG to beat Benn - but the majority of people favoured McClellan to also.

You could never write off a middleweight Benn.

If he'd been cautious and not been down I'd be open to we don't know view. Thing is everyone he's fought at world level he's been so dismissive of what power they bring that he's decided he can just walk through them and let them land shots. In the circumstances the way he doesn't even notice punches from decent MWs is a clear indicator his chin is very solid. You don't have to get clocked clean by massive punchers to show it. Also, whilst I did say Eubank will definitely get his attention with his strength and punch the scenario of Eubank dropping or stopping him requires Golovkin to walk onto one of those punches - he might but a fighter at that level is much less likely to do that. Hence I don't see Eubank being able to stop him. Who did Eubank deck with known better chins? I do think that Sr is miles better than his son and would do far better against Golovkin than jr would.

Based only on what I've heard those on the receiving end say about it, I wouldn't be surprised if Golovkin actually hit harder as well. Also Benn had a real personal issue with McClellan (or rather the way he'd been set up into that fight) that I believe dragged him through that fight in a way he wouldn't always do.

Differnt kinds of punches to be fair golvokin more of a thudding puncher. Wheras mcllellan punched through you. He actually did try to knock you out with every punch whereas golvokin pretty much trys to break you down. Both punch techniques were/are tremendous.
