Ward beats Kovalev
GGG beats Canelo
Gonzalez beats Inoue
Pacquiao beat Crawford
Frampton beats Rigo or Lomachenko
There are a few contenders for top spot these days. There are also a defining match ups that could make a case for one of them. But if all these fights happen, are we any closer to a solution?
(Of course you could flip any of those results and the effect would be similar)
P4P no1...... if?
Re: P4P no1...... if?
Id rank winner of Ward and Kovalev as #1
Re: P4P no1...... if?
GGG is the top man for me but it's all open to debate. I think GGG would bash Canelo up. It's just a pity there aren't many more 'names' with the balls to step up and challenge him. The usual suspects all came out and had their say after Saturday but let's see how many of them are willing to sign a contract and actually fight.
Re: P4P no1...... if?
What if those went the other way?
Re: P4P no1...... if?
If Frampton beats any of those two he would be galaxy number 1. I think Andre wards is p4p number 1

I did say in the OP you could flip those results.BitPlayer wrote:What if those went the other way?
But I suspect a couple of those would quickly be poopoo'd
If Kovalev beats Ward, I suspect the lack of quality opposition, ring rust and weight excuses would get used
If Canelo beats GGG I think he'd get kudos from all but the biggest Golovkin haters
If Inoue beat Gonzalez, I think the size issue might get raised and people may say it was just a step too far for Roman
If Crawford beat Pacquiao I'm guessing Pacan would suddenly be "done!"
Frampton lost to Rigo or Lomachenko, the latter 2 would get credit for a good win, but most would say they expected the result and Frampton was never quite at that elite level.
I dare say not everyone would say the above, but I suspect a good few would not qualify some of them as worthy of quite that top end p4p level of praise.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Too many ifs, buts, maybes and ready made excuses for there to be a clear contender, at least for now.davie wrote:I did say in the OP you could flip those results.BitPlayer wrote:What if those went the other way?
