The Donald Curry that beat McCrorry would have been competitive with any welterweight in history. He was magnificent but only very briefly. He had too many amateur fights (400 wins, 4 losses) and probably stayed at welterweight too long.

As great as Napoles was he was a smallish welterweight. He also cut easily.

Curry by mid-rounds TKO.

I like both fighters. But, I think Mantequilla was much stronger than the Lone Star Cobra. Mantequilla on points or late stoppage.

IMO Napoles would won by decision or late stoppage.

After gorman and the weight and 3 headbutting fights ruined him......even as a shot fighter v mccallum, nunn and norris......curry showed glimpses of brilliance that make me certain he would beaten all 3 in his 1985 prime.....napoles too....in his prime his defence, tactics and all round abilities were exceptional
