De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
There seemed to be a lot of talk of this on social media after Smith's win last weekend. Is this fight in negotiations? I know De Carolis has Zeuge again next.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
If De Carolis wins then could that lead to Callum Smith going after the WBA title, instead of the WBC title, to avenge his brother?
The WBA route makes more sense for Callum.
De Carolis is scheduled to fight Zeuge in November though, so when is Paul Smith meant to be fighting him?

Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Another world title shot for Smith!!!! If he fell in the Mersey he surface with a salmon in his gub!
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
I dont know why but i would like to see Smith win a world title, i dont understand the hate he seems to attract.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
The new Stuey Halll but not even as talented
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
He's never had a win anywhere close to European level never mind world level. I don't hate the guy I actually quite like him but how he keeps getting these opportunities is beyond me!Fitzy901 wrote:I dont know why but i would like to see Smith win a world title, i dont understand the hate he seems to attract.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Smith seemed like an unpleasant and very sensitive guy when he posted here...I can definitely understand the 'hate' he gets on this forum.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
I don't think I was on when Smith posted. I've read a few things with people saying the exact same as yourself. Apparently there were a few guys he didn't take to at all lol.crusader wrote:Smith seemed like an unpleasant and very sensitive guy when he posted here...I can definitely understand the 'hate' he gets on this forum.

Probably because boxing forums are usually full of people who are very blase about taking punches when they have never done it themselves.
Not a dig, just an observation mate.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Of course I don't know him personally and maybe he's much easier to get along with off the forums, but to me he seemed like an asshole. People rag on Bellew, but I found him much more likeable.Stuarty30 wrote:I don't think I was on when Smith posted. I've read a few things with people saying the exact same as yourself. Sure, maybe that's why he was so uptight.Fitzy901 wrote:crusader wrote:Smith seemed like an unpleasant and very sensitive guy when he posted here...I can definitely understand the 'hate' he gets on this forum.

Anyway, this would be a great opportunity for Smith. De Carolis isn't really any better than EBU-level, and it wouldn't shock me if Smith pulled out a win, especially if he gets the fight at home.

True but there's other pro's and ex pro's who do post here or have in the past and were never as prissy he was.Fitzy901 wrote:crusader wrote:Smith seemed like an unpleasant and very sensitive guy when he posted here...I can definitely understand the 'hate' he gets on this forum.

Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Never encountered him on here, but I just don't like seeing people continually get good shots in the sport, when other far more deserving fighters can't get the chances.
I don't want to sound as if I grudge opportunities for people, in what is a tough sport, but the lack of fairness must grate on some fighters who can't continually get handed big paydays when some get opportunities that their talent does not merit.

Exactly. Assuming this is true why isn't Hearn working on a shot like this for Callum rather than Paul? It's a strange one.davie wrote:Never encountered him on here, but I just don't like seeing people continually get good shots in the sport, when other far more deserving fighters can't get the chances.

Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Callum's probably got another undercard he has to help 'stack'
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Paul has always had a huge sense of entitlement about him aswell- that fighting in 6 and 8 rounders against eastern European journeymen somehow warrants you world title shots.
I'd love to see Fielding put one on him.

Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
No way does he deserve a shot he's never beat anyone in the top 20 if he gets a shot and I was Martin Murray or George groves I wouldn't be happy with my promotors both far more deserving IMO
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
If you was a boxer and some fat sofa bound idiots who have ever boxed started calling boxers cowards and bums and all sorts of names then it might get to you. I completely get where Smith is coming from.

Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
I don't think they will mind too much, if Smith wins a belt it would mean an easy route to a title for the likes of Groves, Murray or even Fielding, whoever gets to him first.craigjenkins05 wrote:No way does he deserve a shot he's never beat anyone in the top 20 if he gets a shot and I was Martin Murray or George groves I wouldn't be happy with my promotors both far more deserving IMO
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
Smith has had only one win of any significance (in 2013, the second Dodson fight) since 2010 (the first Dodson fight). He must know dark, terrible secrets about someone in power.
Re: De Carolis vs Paul Smith.
To be fair Martin Murray and George Groves can't complain at lack of top level opportunities.craigjenkins05 wrote:No way does he deserve a shot he's never beat anyone in the top 20 if he gets a shot and I was Martin Murray or George groves I wouldn't be happy with my promotors both far more deserving IMO
I agree, both better fighters and more deserving that P Smith, but hardly short on chances (which they consistently come up just short in)
