GGG performance v Brook, hit a lot, but...
I see a lot of talk about GGG taking a lot of shots against Brook. Does anyone think GGG went into the fight with the game plan of, if necessary, reckless pressure. Taking one to give one. Knowing if he tried to simply box Brook he could take some pitter pater shots and Brook could, potentially, tap and run.
Watching Canelo last night there's no way GGG would fight with reckless abandonment like he did against Brook. Different fighter, different game plan, same outcome.
As a side lots of people slamming Canelo for not stepping up to 160 to fight GGG, few questioning GGG reluctance to go 168

See "GGG got exposed" thread.
Re: GGG performance v Brook, hit a lot, but...
A lot of people go on about GGG not moving up, but it's not the same situation anyway. Canelo paid the sanctioning fee for a MW title, defended it, then dropped back down only when he was ordered to fight GGG. GGG has never fought for a SMW title, been labelled the true champ at 168, or fled the division once a dangerous mandatory was ordered and he couldn't just cherry-pick.
If Canelo never won and defended a MW title would people criticize him for avoiding GGG?

He gets hit a lot but he does`t look troubled by anything so far. If you have a chin of Iron you probably don`t mind getting smacked a few times in order to land your big bombs.
Can`t recall a better pressure fighter than GGG for many years. Does`t give the opponent a seconds peace. Constantly badgering them and closing the ring until he can land his punches. The guy is just an attacking genius.
It`s sad that he may have to move up to find a decent challenge. Hagler was a career middleweight and gets all the kudos (correctly so). If GGG stayed at middle his whole career people would slate him for having it too easy.
Hagler is my favorite fighter, but let`s have it right, Duran and Hearns were smaller guys moving up. He never really beat that many outstanding middleweights.

Sure but a notch on haglers record like Tony Sibson > Willie Monroe and Lemieux. Sibson would fucken ice both of them too, in my opinion. And hagler dissected him with casual precision, like he was a teenager.

Funny you should mention Sibson. I just rewatched his fight with Hagler a couple of hours ago and he was well and truly done. Having said that GGG would absolutely murder Sibson.
I also watched the Minter v Hagler fight. What a scrap that was while it lasted. Brutal war. Hagler was so tough.
You think he`s have done GGG?

Thought about the GGG v Hagler thing for ages and honestly can't separate them. Both got unbelievable chins. Two things that'd worry me about Hagler in this fight - how Duran's little feints, natural ability and tricks frustrated him and also his tactical madness in the first few rounds against Leonard.
Brook IMO did highlight some GGG faults, said this on here last week and here too:

No, but the fact is he did win a MW title. No matter how you spin it, he won a fake strap from a fake champ, and then bitched out.
Its not like he doesn't out-weigh GGG fight night by probably 10 lbs, and is in a prime age. He absolutely ducked GGG, and has gotten hell and much deserved disrespect for it.
