USYK OUTBOXES GLOWACKI SOLIDLY IN POLAND
Glowacki has 3 X as many fights and was undefeated World Champion at 26-0... Usyk fought NOBODY and had only 9 pro fights. An anemic 50 rounds of pro experience...and the fight was in Glowacki's backyard in Poland ... so an understandable mistake picking Glowacki if you did that.
However, this is what I always say about experience -- talent is much more important than experience.. Talent RULES.. Usyk never fought a soul you ever heard of as a pro, but he's a great boxer -- if not an overwhelmingly experienced boxer starting at 16.. But he had to get going because not a whole lot of cruiserweights are anxious to fight him.. Glowacki was willing to fight in his backyard, so you grab it early or you may be sitting on the shelf for several years.. This is Usyk's 1st fight this year and he's lucky it happened.. Now Usyk has the Lineal World Title and may have a long reign and hopefully turn the Crusierweight division into something... It's been kind of a 2nd rate division because no Americans are really threatening to take over.

I agree he (Usyk) showed more talent, but when it comes to experience I am not sure if it was any factor here... or rather who shall we consider as "more experienced" of the two.Kalan wrote:However, this is what I always say about experience -- talent is much more important than experience..
On paper, Usyk was only 9-0, but you have to take into account he had really good (and quite long for todays standards) amateur career... and when he turned pro, unlike most other fighters, he did not waste any time fighting tomato cans (all opponents with positive record and 10+ wins).

He looked pretty good in my opinion. He comes from some strange angles, a bit awkward at times. Looks like he might be a tough draw for a conventional fighter.

Usyk is a 2012 Olympic champion, a 2011 World amateur champion and 2008 European champion. He also fought in the 2008 Olympics. He was also unbeaten in six WSB fights up at heavyweight where he beat big guys like Joseph Joyce, Matteo Modugno, Junior Fa, Magomedrasul Medzhydov, etc. He was also a clear favorite with bookmakers. I won some money on him yesterday but I would've been more than happy if the bookmakers thought he was a novice who had fought nobody. Then I would be rich todayKalan wrote:Glowacki has 3 X as many fights and was undefeated World Champion at 26-0... Usyk fought NOBODY and had only 9 pro fights. I can see why Usyk got the win but This fight literally put me to sleep after the Fogarty concert.

Maybe, you had better follow MMA.Tanzio wrote:I can see why Usyk got the win but This fight literally put me to sleep after the Fogarty concert.

In my defense, it was very late and I was watching it after the fact (and the concert) on my smartphone.ValMar wrote:Maybe, you had better follow MMA.Tanzio wrote:I can see why Usyk got the win but This fight literally put me to sleep after the Fogarty concert.
Usyk was in control but I was not nearly as impressed with his performance as the majority on here.

I was impressed, but I felt he should have gone for the KO late in the fight when he had Glowacki hurt.Tanzio wrote:In my defense, it was very late and I was watching it after the fact (and the concert) on my smartphone.

I think he was really cautious about Glowacki's power. There were a couple of occasions where he had the opportunity to go in for the kill and seemed to hold back intentionally.Freedom2013 wrote:I was impressed, but I felt he should have gone for the KO late in the fight when he had Glowacki hurt.Tanzio wrote:In my defense, it was very late and I was watching it after the fact (and the concert) on my smartphone.

I think he stops nearly every cruiserweight though.

He's gonna be just like Loma! Not wasting time, he's good enough. There was an unofficial scoring the bout, which they showed after each round. Have no idea what he was watching, giving some of Usyk's clear rounds as 10-10.
I was impressed with how well Usyk did. He nearly got the knockdown, and his previous 9 fights show that he usually gets a stoppage alte on, so I rate Glowacki who was clearly gassed towards the end.

That was the card of Glowacki's former training partner Gregorz Proksa.

And he's Polish, the Sky Sports team were shocked! some rounds he had to give Usyk because of his workrate, you can tell he wanted a draw on his card. not that it would mattercrusader wrote:That was the card of Glowacki's former training partner Gregorz Proksa.

I hope they keep Usyk active... There's Michael Hunter, Lebedev, Huck, Bellew, Mchunu, and a few others out there for him to fight... So I hope he stays busy and draws some attention to the division... Mairis Briedis is another great fighter, a Latvvian, who potentially has the beating of Usyk... I really hope that fight gets put together because it would be a tremendous matchup.
Re: USYK OUTBOXES GLOWACKI SOLIDLY IN POLAND
I had it 118-110 for Usyk myself. Excellent performance, and this guy definitely has a bright future in this sport. I look forward to seeing Usyk fight some more of the big names at Cruiserweight in the next year or two. Huck, Lebedev, Bellew, and others. The Cruiserweight division is usually pretty solid in spite of the lack of attention it gets, there's almost always some interesting fights going on there.
The Cruiserweight division is basically what the Heavyweight division used to be in terms of the size and the athleticism of it's combatants.

Re: USYK OUTBOXES GLOWACKI SOLIDLY IN POLAND
Heavies were that size... Even smaller in Johansson, Patterson, and Marciano in the 1950's... but I didn't see the athleticism of Briedis and Usyk back then.
