Forgive me I was unaware the rematch clause was being activated.

Of course you're quite right, both fighters ste under Al Haymon (don't know what i was thinking?)

I have heard that LSC's dad has come out & called for a rematch. That's hardly substantial proof of a clause in the contract.

It's repeatedly been said that there was no clause, McGuigan & Frampton could have been contradicted multiple times when saying there was no clause, but yet they weren't.

But you CAN state your intention to activate the rematch clause...

You CAN, in fact, publically acknowledge that such a clause exists...

None of which happened. Until months later after the fight.

:maybe: maybe they didn't read the fine print?

Or maybe the clause just doesn't exist, because they never considered Leo losing as a possible ending to the fight. And thus Carl may well bring his WBA Featherweight title in to a unification fight against Selby.
Or maybe decide to defend against a high-profile opponent such as Abner Mares or Nonito Donaire.

Or maybe the whole concept confuses you? Nobody calls press conferences to announce the activation of a rematch clause. You do it and then negotiate the terms. Seeing how this is the broke ass pbc, that could take a while. And if mcguigan wants something else they may pay step aside money. All that being said and from the people I've talked to I'm certain the rematch clause existed and has been executed.

Apparantly there was a rematch clause mate - http://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12 ... -not-in-la

Carl Frampton is happy to fight Leo Santa Cruz again in December but not in Los Angeles.

The new WBA Super featherweight world champion admits there was a rematch clause in the contract for the showdown that saw him beat the Mexican in New York last month.

Frampton (23-0-KO14) expects the return to happen next but made it clear he will be calling the shots in and out of the ring when it happens.

What division should he campaign in ?
Has to stay featherweight. The Santa Cruz rematch has to happen too, it's a great pay day and matchup for both guys. This could be a trilogy for the ages.

Selby needs to get busier before he even contemplates a fight with Frampton.

Oscar Valdez is also around and if Rigo comes up to featherweight, Frampton should risk it in a year's time. He won't but it's a nice thought

Plenty of fights!

vs. SantaCruz II
vs. Selby
vs. Andres Cuellar
vs. Russell Jr.
vs. Valdez
vs. Quigg II < if moves up
vs. Lomachenko < maybe a catch-weight
