Think I read he got £4million for the whyte fight odont think he would've got that for his world title fight though as they had to pay a lot to get Charles Martin overNightmare Roy wrote:I doubt he's getting that kind of cheddar, but he will be soon.crusader wrote:Does anyone know what Joshua and his opponents have been paid? I've seen people refer to him as the biggest money maker in boxing (even though guys like Canelo and Pac pull in around $20m per fight), but I haven't seen much concrete info.

Re: Does Haye make more money against Fury or Joshua?
I think Fury, given the magnitude of the fight, however, not sure the Fury's would want to give him that much of a payday, so perhaps not
At this stage of the game, does anyone really want Haye? He's becoming irrelevant with each passing day, is getting on, and is still a huge puncher, a risky fight.
I'm not sure Joshua or Fury really need him to be frank.

Joshua by a mile. He earned more for fighting Whyte than Fury did for fighting Klitschko.
There's a chance he made more than Wlad did for fighting Fury!
AJ is the cash cow right now. He's a millionaire a few times over after 17 effing fights. On an upward curve too. The casuals love him and that's where then dough is, ask Ricky Hatton.
Haye is in the 'who needs him' club though. Joshua makes millions fighting anyone and Fury seems content enough with his wealth.

Incidentally, I wouldn't be at all surprised if AJ were to fight Haye. If Hayes shoulder really has stopped his explosiveness, it's a pretty low risk, high earning fight.
They are both media savvy, and clearly get on well, so I don't think AJ would begrudge Haye a final payday. In the same way Haye was happy to nest egg Harrison (not , incidentally, that I'm comparing them as fighters).

Whatever people might say, the truth is that Fury simply isnt that marketable - unlike AJ. What previous British heavyweight involved in a genuine world title fight in England has struggled to sell the fight as much as Fury and his team in this rematch?

unless Haye picks up a title, why bother fighting him, just wait for him to get bored, and retire again.

Possibly, but still high risk.Horse wrote:To make loads of money.jamesmcdonnell wrote:unless Haye picks up a title, why bother fighting him, just wait for him to get bored, and retire again.

Can Joshua keep having PPVs against weak opposition though? He's going to have to fight a mandatory challenger at some point.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Possibly, but still high risk.
Is Haye any more dangerous than Pulev or Parker at this stage? I'm pretty sure the Haye fight will make a lot more money than against those two.

Fury always needs the right dance partner and platform. Trust me, against Joshua, on Sky PPV, this goes through the roof.liamlion wrote:Whatever people might say, the truth is that Fury simply isnt that marketable - unlike AJ. Personally I think Joshua v Fury would be the biggest British fight of all time. The possibility of this fight the only reason I want Fury to keep hold of his belts after the farce 2016 has been from him,mickey1975 wrote:Fury always needs the right dance partner and platform. He is fighting his mandatory challenger. He's had the title for less than a year, so I think it's harsh to criticise him for not fighting the number one contender yet. The deadline has been set, and I have no reason to believe they won't fight (Parker).Horse wrote:Can Joshua keep having PPVs against weak opposition though? As far as risk vs. reward (I don't like this concept), Joshua can make a very lucrative career off B level fighters. There's still lots of marketable fights out there which are not risky. That said, I don't think Joshua will go down the Wilder route, so expect the risky fights to be make in the next 18 months.
Furthermore, Haye is not relevant at the moment. His only angle is that he can make Joshua money - but I don't believe Joshua is short on options at the moment. I feel like he's playing this only hand. If I was him, I'd get him in the ring, and try earn himself a mandatory spot (That said, he's somehow managed to reach number 3 in the IBF, despite fighting dross so far).

Re: Does Haye make more money against Fury or Joshua?
If i was AJ, i'd be pretty desperate to fight Haye. People on here might disagree with the statement but in the eyes of the public, David Haye is a world class opponent and beating him would remove any doubt that Joshua is the real deal.jamesmcdonnell wrote:unless Haye picks up a title, why bother fighting him, just wait for him to get bored, and retire again.
It would also generate a huge amount of cash, much more than a fight against Deontay Wilder or Wlad or any other heavyweight out there.
If Joshua is even half as good as he's made out to be then he beats this current version of Haye fairly easily and gets all the plaudits.
Re: Does Haye make more money against Fury or Joshua?
Fury would need to be on a tight leash in his media duties. He couldn't afford another interview like the one in the daily mail before the wlad fight that blew up massively afterward.mickey1975 wrote:Fury always needs the right dance partner and platform. His antics like the batman stunt would be lapped up, but I also think he would need to start knocking out people instead of looking like a tree in the wind trying to emulate Muhammad Ali with shuffles before hugging another lumbering tree. If Oct 29th is another snoozefest you may just see fans dwindle away from fury because he promises a KO and ends up dad dancing and hugging his way to a boring points win.
The man in the pub wants knockouts and action not slow dancing.

Re: Does Haye make more money against Fury or Joshua?
Fury wouldn't need to tone it down in a build up to a Joshua fight imo.
Religious inspired outbursts will just attract even more coverage, scandal and viewers!
If they ever sign to fight I'd encourage both to get nasty. I've always said Joshua's best chance of upsetting Fury as it stands is to wind him up. Target his background etc, as crass as that sounds, it would be an easy wind up and a wound up Fury is far more beatable than the cool, collected Fury.
It's a huge fight that would dominate the headlines pre-fight. Such an easy sell.

I'd say AJ. Because he has the Sky money-making machine behind him.

Joshua is making a fortune fighting complete tomato cans, who present little risk. He already has a title, Haye has nothing other than his name, and his former glories.freddydoesdallas wrote:If i was AJ, i'd be pretty desperate to fight Haye. Personally, unless options dried up and I wasn't making much, I'd avoid Haye in his position.
I'd pick him to beat Haye easily personally, he's way too big for Haye and hard hitting.

I am not saying they wouldn't, but most boxing fans I know want to see Joshua and Fury, that's boxing fans not people who watch the sport down the pub and shout ''hit him.''Taansend wrote:Why wouldn't boxing fans be excited at the prospect of these two meeting? I've been a fan over forty years & would be happy with any two of the three meeting instead of Joshua & Haye fighting padded records or Fury not fighting more than once a year.Fitzy901 wrote:I am not saying they wouldn't, but most boxing fans I know want to see Joshua and Fury, that's boxing fans not people who watch the sport down the pub and shout ''hit him.''Taansend wrote:Why wouldn't boxing fans be excited at the prospect of these two meeting? I'm just pointing out that Haye v Joshua would be a fight that gets boxing fans excited whereas you're saying it's for "casuals" . Nothing to do with the colour of the sky.
