George Groves and the WBA belt?

Post by Fitzy901 »

I thought his fight with Murray was a eliminator for the WBA strap?

Heard nothing in the three months since the fight, and I see the Sauderland's are talking about looking at the Degale rematch?

Does anyone know what the situation with the 12 stone WBA belt is?

Giovanni De Carolis and Tyron Zeuge have a rematch for the regular belt.

I think Sturm is still the the main champion.. WBA is a mess..

It's a proper car crash! It's as if they're actively going out their way to make themselves more of a circus!

What I don't get is, they stripped Chagaev of the Regular title, they should scrap it now, instead they are making Browne and Oquendo fight for it??

I personally think that the Boxing community at large should start ignoring the WBA like it doesn't exist. They made themselves irrelevant in my mind with 3 versions of their title in weight classes.

4 different belts and 4 different Champions is already overkill, then we got 3 versions of one of the belts making it 6 belts in a division? Enough already with the bullsh*t.

I think Groves will get the Zuege vs De Carolis winner.

If he can't win that belt he won't ever win one. He'd be better off fighting Degale.

Yeah but if he wins it then him vs Degale becomes a unification (load of bollocks really) and an even bigger fight with their disdain for one another.

For those mentioning Sturm it's worth reading this

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing ... oping.html

At one point Chudinovs promoter said they were getting the belt back then Fighting Gilberto Ramirez in a unification. This was a while ago now.

So groves is mandatory for the regular belt which is held by De Carolis?

But the super duper wba belt is held by Sturm who is dealing with a drugs charge?

Surely just strip strum, upgrade De Carolis to super duper champion, then get George to fight against someone for the regular belt then mandate the 2 to fight for the super duper belt.

I see the regular belt as no better than a wbc silver belt.

Chudinov will be in the mix somewhere. He got robbed by a drug cheat. All he has to do is threaten court action like all WBA regular losers do and he gets mandated again.

Would a second grade belt make it any more lucrative? Just get in with Degale now.

It would probably help with Groves bargaining position though. I imagine that George will want a bigger cut than he should be getting otherwise.
