Do you think Jacobs has a chance to beat GGG or will he be another mismatch?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Based on the eye test, he has skills that could trouble GGG..

the only question is how will his chin hold up or how tight he will be on defense?

He is probably the most athletic middleweight in a while..

He can get a little over aggressive but GGG will be coming to him..

Definitely favor GGG, possibly by stoppage but with Jacobs speed and explosiveness he could clip GGG before danger.

How do you see it?

Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs are negotiating to fight, the WBA told Sky Sports
Negotiations have begun for Gennady Golovkin to fight Daniel Jacobs, the Word Boxing Association has confirmed.
The organisation's president Gilberto Mendoza Jr is committed to unifying its middleweight title and has revealed that talks are underway for a December 10 meeting at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Mendoza Jr exclusively told Sky Sports: "They are negotiating. Already, Jacobs' handlers have sent an offer - the numbers - to [Golovkin's promoter] Tom Loeffler. That's what I've heard.

I'm not sure if GGG will choose to box or walk through Jacobs, but either way he's going to land regularly at some point in the fight and I don't think Jacobs has the chin to stand up to it.

Exactly. "Ego"tiations (struggle of egos) have begun. Jacobs will want at least $3 mil. Canelo's broken finger may actually help HBO to come up with necessary money.

P.S. Jacobs has a puncher's chance of about 5%, but I expect Golovkin to be only 1/6-1/4 betting favorite.

He's got punching power and hand speed so he certainly has a chance, but his chance is come out and try to bomb out GGG early like he did Quillin. If he comes out nervous and covering up, he's in trouble and Golovkin is gonna overwhelm him inside 4 or 5 rounds.

I'd give him the best chance of any middleweight out there. Moreso than Saunders, Andy Lee, or Eubank Jr (the other top middleweights in the boxrec rankings).

Jacobs is younger, taller, rangier, faster, more athletic and a comparably hard puncher. The big question is how long his chin will hold up for. It's no mismatch, but GGG is the big favourite for a reason. Jacobs' best chance it to attack him from the get go, win some early rounds, try to get him out of there early like he did Quillin. I've never seen GGG cut, but I could see a scenario where Jacobs wins a technical decision for being up on the scorecards before the fight is stopped due to a clash of heads.

All that said, GGG by an early-to-mid rounds KO is my pick.

I'd give Jacobs about 1/2 of a punchers chance.
