Kovalev v Ward: Sky Sports to show fight live

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The huge light-heavyweight showdown between unbeaten rivals Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward will be shown live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

Kovalev (30-0-1-KO26) will put his IBF, WBA Super and WBO world titles on the line against Ward (30-0-KO15) at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, on November 19.

With elite fighters Gennady Golovkin and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez boxing in London and Texas respectively in recent weeks, this battle of unbeaten fighters will be the biggest Vegas fight of the year.
Excited about this, I thought allegedly where going to show it, but i've got Sky Sports so should be fine. It's doesn't say Box Office, so I hope it stays that way... I'm from the UK, so I'll need to stay awake til at least 4am, lets see how the undercard shapes up. Might be worth watching most of the card.

Anyone else from the UK staying up to watch on Sky Sports?

Not even fast Eddie would try and make this a ppv in the UK.

This is absolutely brilliant news. Praying they've got a decent commentary team for it though. GGG v Brook was abysmal stuff

Exclusive on Sky TV? What happened to HBO? I hope they mean semi-exclusive. I don't think we have a Sky TV in the States.

This is a genuine superfight.

These sorts of fights don't happen too often these days.

I'm just hoping that the two guys deliver on the night.

Ward will bring you dreamers back to reality, 12 three minute reminders at a time.

Yep, Hopkins was also supposed to school Kovalev. You, Ward adorers, are the ones who are dreaming. Kova by a wide decision or KO.

Hopkins was a 50 odd year old man.

Hopkins has defensive skills comparable to Ward and a better chin. He was FORCED into a shell by Kovalev and so will be Ward if his body and chin survive first 4 rounds.

Ward is more versatile. He can maul on the inside and he can box from range. Let's wait and see. Even if Kovalev does win which is possible as he's a very good fighter in his own right- it won't be some dominant win. Kovalev didn't exactly look great against Chilemba who is nowhere near as good as Ward.

Kovalev didn't take Chilemba seriously, had cold during the camp and had all those hometown distractions. Nevertherless, he won 9 rounds against him.

Ward could maul at 168 against smaller and not so hard punching boxers. In his last fight, he couldn't take out a bum who he dragged from the lower weight class.

Ward has never been a puncher though. That's not his game.

He just doesn't look anything close to what he was 5 years ago. I am not even sure that 2011 Ward could be competitive against Kovalev.

I like Ward UD as well. I rate Kovalev highly and he's certainly got a shot to win this, but I think Ward will make him miss and hit him enough to get a clear decision.
