Re: AJ vs Fury ?
I'd be amazed if this fight happens.
Peter shouted about 50 names that Hughie is fighting in the last 2 years but I don't think they have put a serious offer in for any.
Good management though, keeps his name talked about whilst he sorts his health problems out.
I see Joshua-Pulev. Hughie against gatekeeper.

There's a couple ways you can play it, if you need to survive against a huge puncher IMO.nitro5912 wrote:kbackup408 wrote:AJ lands on anyones chin its night night but all power can be negated with slick boxing skills (quoted from Peter Fury) hahadavie wrote:I had this close a couple years back with AJ getting the slight edge.
I think now Joshua might walk through him, perhap Hughie winning a couple early rounds as they feel each other out but once Joshua realises he can't put a dent in him, he'll get into range and land something big
I see Hughie taking AJ past 7 for sure though
Tell that to the last 33 GGG opponents who have thought that power is negated.
I don't see Hughie having the super slick skills to avoid joshua hurting him and then landing many times to get him out of there.
You either need to be able to match them for power,
or be a better boxer and at least have a very solid dig to deter them coming forward
Failing that. you need to be an extremely slick defensive fighter, I'm talking p4p level, if you are going to try and survive in there on skills alone. Because when someone like Joshua realises you can't put a dent in him (and he'll realise that quickly against Hughie IMO) you won't just be evading punches in a boxing match, your opponent will be coming full on if he realises he can walk through your best shots.
And in either scenario you are going to need a solid chin, because you will be hard pushed to go 12 without eating a few shots and we are yet to see whether Hughie has those sort of whiskers.
For me Joshua's offensive skillset are probably about a match for Hughies defensive ones. Neither look elite level but are very good at what they do respectively. (let's be honest, we're not talking GGG and Rigondeaux here)
On that basis Joshua will land and I think in that case the huge gulf in power makes the telling difference.

This match up is bollxxks. It won't happen. You don't throw hughie in now, just to fill one of Eddie's dates. They have all the time in the world with him. You don't go from struggling against klassi to facing Joshua.

If it does happen its a decent payday for Hughie and a loss on his record wont account to much. Its a quick nights work, 3 rounds max so wont effect Hughie that much and lets be honest money is king in any sport these days.

Its a blatant rip off to even think about this fight , let alone buy it You have AJ who is supposed to be a world champ and fighting the likes of ,Wilder ,, Tyson ,, Klitchko ,or even Parker , how they can even think of this matchup is beyond me, Hughie deserves a shot based on what ,, His dad says he's going to be great one day when he gets over the illness he's had for years ,, Cmon if they even think seriosly about this i would say only a fool would buy it , a smart person would stream it , In fact a smafrt person would stream ALL of Eddies ppv's and vote with there feet ,, if he can't sell shit he'll have to improve his game

I think it'll be a ruse to flush another opponent into signing on the dotted line, it's peters son after all and I can't see the people behind hughie just cashing out on him now. Also, not sure if hughie is marketable, to the general public he is totally unknown and it's not like he is this unknown destroyer either. I seriously doubt Eddie would risk the backlash that would come from a Joshua demolition of hughie. Joshua / ppv is a cash cow and if hughie was badly over matched and lost quickly that is not good for business because he is not established in the first place.mimmy123 wrote:JimJim2009 wrote:This match up is bollxxks. Sky just announced that it's Parker.
Fair enough.

So that's scheduled? I've seen articles that Parker-AJ is set, but then reading the articles it just seems like the fight is being discussed and hasn't actually been made.deadpan wrote:Sky just announced that it's Parker.

He's got to get through Dimitrenko first.
A hard fight or a cut etc means there's no way he makes the Nov AJ date.
I still suspect it will be Pulev and they save Parker for early next year.
The sky media machine will mention Parker in as many news story's as possible between now and then to boost his profile.
