GGG-Jacobs

GGG's manager says talks are going well, and he doesn't think a purse bid will be needed. Thoughts on this fight? Danny has a nice mix of speed and power and may be the biggest offensive threat to GGG at 160, although his chin is shaky and given how weary he's fought relatively light hitters I can see him shelling up.

It'd be an interesting fight, and it'd definitely be one of the Golovkin's toughest opponents to date if not THE toughest. Jacobs' win over Quillin is definitely the highest profile win that anybody whom Golovkin has faced has to their credit.

Golovkin would win by KO of course though.

It's my guess that Jacobs will last somewhere between 8-11 rounds. Hope it is a good fight.

Golovkin would respect his power and make it a boxing match and wear him down a la Lemieux.

I don't see him making it that long. I think Golovkin takes him out between 4 and 6...wouldn't shock me if it happened sooner actually. Depends on how much Jacobs turtles up I guess.

If Jacobs goes into a shell, it could last 8 rounds, but if he tries to hurt GGG, he goes down in 2-3 rounds.

Will love to see this fight. Ggg is about 3 title defences away from the middleweight record. F the canelo fight and F all the pressure for him to move up. Let's get this record with fights with Jacobs, Saunders and whoever else.

I think Jacobs has a better chance than Alvarez. But think Golovkin wears him down in the second half of the fight.

It looks like the fight becomes more realistic for December 10th:

I hope Jacobs doesn't see these poll results.

I agree with this but I think he'd find and stop Jacobs quicker.
Because I don't see Jacobs approaching it in quite the same way Lemieux did

20 votes cast and it's 100% for GGG. Sounds about right.

It's hard to give Jacobs more than a puncher's chance in there. Given that we've never even seen GGG wobbled we can't even be certain he has that.

It's definitely not a mismatch.

Jacobs moves and boxes very well, and he can punch hard. He's a live underdog in this fight.

I think Jacobs is the #2 MW in the world and I want to see the fight. That said, he stands very little chance of winning and I suspect he may not even last as long as Brook.

Looks like Barclays may be on hold for the fight. The top two middleweights could be going at it :box:

I agree and Jacobs is a good fighter but he's not great.
I think the fact that the other 2 "title holders" Jacobs and BJS are arguably number 2 and 3 in the division, highlights just how weak this middleweight division has become.

The fight I would look to in Jacobs career was against another eastern Euro by the name of Dmitry Pirog. In that fight Jacobs came out early after Pirog but after tasting that power Jacobs quickly developed a lot of respect for the Russian and the Russian dispatched the American in 5 rounds. Jacobs boxed well but Pirog taunted him and said his punching power was nothing. People forget about Pirog who retired due to back issues at around the age of 30. He never lost a fight and knocked the American out when they faced off. Jacobs would have to land something early against GGG or he would face a similar defeat in their fight. Once touched up by GGG Jacobs would be nighty night. Just like it was against Pirog. Jacobs fought southpaw for a lot of the fight and tried to fight off the ropes which did him no favors. He will not be able to fight that way against GGG.

The last time Jacobs fought a guy that puts on pressure he fell apart and got knocked out in bad fashion ala Pirog.

Thats the fight I always wanted to see, Pirog vs GGG , but fate would not allow it.
Jacobs is an amazing guy coming back from cancer and all. I think GGG KO's Jacobs though , but who knows GGG looked a little old vs Brook, so the Jacob fight is a legit one make clear who the middleweight champ is.
