Under a different trainer, Quigg would give Rigo a run for his money. Under Shameless with his 'tactics' not a snowballs chance in hell.
I think there is a clear level between Quigg and Rigo but that's not why I don't give him a snowball in hells chance.
It's because his style is absolutely custom made to be picked apart by Rigondeaux, I don't see him landing a glove on him. He doesn't have the subtlety, the intelligence or the ability to adapt, he'd load up and get countered all night and I could see him actually getting frustrated to the point where he started bombing away and getting stopped by him. Quigg's not a bad boxer but he's just not at the level of ability to cause Rigo harm. A body shot is the only chance I give him and even then I'm rating this one in the 95/5 region.

Frampton would have been an underdog against Rigo but his skillset and busy style would have caused him far more problems IMO.

Talk is cheap.

More chance of a full Beatles reunion than Gallagher letting that fight happen.

I do think Rigo is going to be there for the taking soon and a fighter can massively benefit from it.

It would be perfect for Quigg to take it right now the thing is h has the exact blueprint of how NOT to fight Rigo and that is the first 8 rounds of the Frampton fight.

If he changes trainer and fought like he did round 8 of that fight from the start against Rigo he would have a very slim chance of winning but higher risk of getting KOd.

If he fought like he did v Frampton in the first 8 rounds you would witness the biggest boxing lesson ever on British soil.

Sometimes fighters don't look great and sometimes great fighters make very good fighters look ordinary

The movement and counter punching, against one of the most effective offensive fighters in the game, was to be marveled at.
I watched a review of the fight, one of these YouTube blokes that slows down the replays so you can watch the technical brilliance of all the things you don't see at full speed.
Donaire was losing pretty clearly to Darchinyan in his next fight and looking terrible and soon after he was destroyed by Walters.

Rigondeaux's performance against Donaire is perhaps the most overrated performance in the last 5 years of boxing.
davie wrote:There's a point where Rigo is circling and he crosses his feet to fool Donaire, Donaire throws a big over hand right as Rigo changes direction. By the time Donaire gets the punch where it was supposed to be Rigo is 6 feet away from it. It's truly masterful boxing, if you can't appreciate what Rigo does in the ring you just don't get it bud.
And he didn't counter?

Even when you give an example of Rigondeaux's 'brilliance' he seems to be doing the wrong thing.

Based on what?

His win against a lacklustre Donaire is almost 3.5 years ago now.

Very overrated fighter.

There's a lot of good ones on youtube. There's a lad Lee Wylie has a channel on youtube, his videos are really good.
He has a Rigo tribute but I don't think it's that one I'm thinking of. It might not even have been on Youtube but someone posted the link on the CS a couple years back

Dickens did maybe make him look uncomfortable, but he did it with a high-tempo strategy with a lot of foot movement, and he couldn't sustain the energy levels to do it throughout the fight.

Quiggs slow plodding feet, if he were to try and press Galahad, wouldn't be able to do it in the same way, I think he would spend quite a while in the trademark Joe G 'lose the early rounds and come on strong' posture and Galahad would have plenty of opportunities to find angles through his guard.

Maybe. Its def one we all deserve to see. Quigg could well be too strong. He was putting it on frampton so I see no reason he couldn't find Galahad. He's not THAT elusive.hope its in the pipeline, they are almost complete opposites personality wise

I cant believe we are really having this discussion on this forum, are people really making a case for the drug cheat who was losing to Dickens and got dropped by an over the hill Jason Booth a chance of beating Rigondeux.

He found a way against Dickens - great fighters always do, and most have blips along the way up

From what I saw of him, he looks like he could be the real deal

It's a shame because he couldn't even headline the arena on his own if Joshua ends up being moved to December
