Eric Gomez, President of Golden Boy Promotions, says his company is very pleased with the early buyrate numbers for last Saturday's HBO Pay-Per-View event, which featured Canelo Alvarez vs. Liam Smith from AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Okay, if you must. Adjusted for inflation, Mayweather collected 2 purses that would have been equivalent to $2.5 million+ in today's money by the time he was Saul's age. Saul collected 7.

You're trying to genuinely say that Lemieux doesn't have more familiarity with US audiences even if they're just boxing fans than Liam Smith, a guy that had never even fought within North America before fighting Canelo and had fought no recognisable name at all prior to that fight? Seriously? The Rosado fight was on HBO, the N'dam Jikam fight was on fox 2, the Guerrero fight was on showtime, the Rubio fight from years ago was on ESPN 2.

Whether or not he was a huge name in the states, he still had more of a profile than Smith did and to say otherwise is just silly.

Americans don't watch boxing. Of course he's more familiar to boxing fans, I'd never seen Liam fight. He didn't sell a single ppv. Being on the undercard of Delorme/Lundy on HBO probably drew as many new viewers as an infomercial featuring him on hair would.
