oh, oh, I can answer this one

Barring a draw either Ortiz or Wlad will be their champion afterwards.

Then Fury is still champion in recess.

But you're right, both Wilder, as well as Fury should be champion in recess right now.

..what exactly was the excuse Fury's team came up this time?
PS: I just read the statement saying he's "medically unfit"..what the hell might that mean? ..the tough guy's been mentally unstable most of the time..

It means experts assessed his mental state and deemed him unfit to fight.

Isn't Wilder basically already? The WBC is having Povetkin Stivern for the interim title.

Fury should be at this point, especially since the fact that it's a mental issue makes it harder to asses when/if he'll be able to fight again.

Why not the title? Instead of the interim title?

Because Wilder is the WBC champion.
The WBC have allowed him extra time to recover from his injury before he faces his mandatory.

It is highly likely that before the Tyson Fury mess is sorted, one of Lucas Browne or Fres Oquendo will have won the currently vacant WBA regular title.

So he should be champion in recess, like the WBC also did with the Russian cruiserweight champion (in recess).

I hope that happens, but I would be amazed if it did... We usually shut Cubans out of those opportunities... When they get them we rig the decisions.

When he was 11-0 Rigondeaux got a single (1) high profile fight against a bigger, taller 31-1 Five-Division Champion Nonito Donaire... He made the most of the opportunity and won a clear decision... But no rematch was ever going to happen---and he's clearly being shut out of any other big fight... It's been over 41 months since the Donaire fight.. Rigo has only had 5 fights in that time and his last 4 opponents where completely unknown.. It seems like Scott Quigg will be the best he could possibly do, but it's unlikely that fight gets made.

You think Luis Ortiz is getting a chance at a shot Wladimir??? I doubt it... Wladimir never got fights with Lewis, Holyfield, or Tyson.. They all lost to much lower profile fighters than Wladimir, so I don't think any of Wlad's losses had anything to do with the fact he didn't get those fights... He got a fight with an old Ray Mercer, which accounted for very little prestige wise... It's unlikely that Ortiz will be allowed to pad his resume with Wlad, Haye, or Povetkin -- even though he's older than Povetkin and Haye... There are no American legends active at Heavy because nobody has done real well in a long time... In 2 or 3 years Ortiz will probably get fights with Wilder, Joshua, Parker, and other Heavyweights who he deserves to fight right now... He'll get beaten. Father Time will beat him.
