http://www.BS.com/gonzalez-can ... in--109161Former multi-division world champion Jhonny Gonzalez does not believe his countryman, WBO junior middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-11, 34KOs), can not call himself the best fighter in boxing.

The winner of the Ward-Kovalev fight would have earned the right to proclaim themselves as the true pound-for-pound king. GGG and Canelo aren't in the conversation, because their resumes aren't good enough, even if they do eventually face one another.

P4P is all subjective of course, but thats a pretty fair statement.Enlightened-One wrote:The winner of the Ward-Kovalev fight would have earned the right to proclaim themselves as the true pound-for-pound king. Especially when you consider that most would have favoured ward over ggg at super middle and that ward has a better resume than both ggg and canelo.

If Kovalev destroys Ward (which I expect), it could mean that Ward has always been overrated, plus he became worse due to inactivity. Of course such win would still be an argument for Sergey moving to p4p #1, but if Canelo would somehow manage to beat Golovkin, he would have a strong argument too. Golovkin beating Canelo should not move him up, as that is expected. If Ward beats Kovalev, he will be p4p #1, at least for a while.

so if chickenelo wins over golovkin, the ginger chick is world #1, but if golovkin just continues to win, even over the ginger chick, he will not be number one ?

This is one of the most sensible posts you've posted in this forum.boxing_rocks wrote:If Kovalev destroys Ward (which I expect), it could mean that Ward has always been overrated, plus he became worse due to inactivity. GingerHead is playing dodgeball with weight divisions. He is avoiding fighting the best of any division (including welter).

wrong.
'Being the best' (the topic) entails 'fighting the best'. therefore your comment of 'offtopic' was the one that was 'offtopic'.

OK, how does Tanzio's derogatory comments about Canelo directly relate to Jhonny Gonzalez's comments (i.e. the title of this thread)?Counter-puncher wrote:wrong.Enlightened-One wrote:Off-topic.Tanzio wrote:GingerHead is playing dodgeball with weight divisions. "No [ I don't think Canelo is the best]... I think he has to face Golovkin, and beat him, which will demonstrate that he is the best fighter today."
If you can’t read a full sentence, such as the title of this thread, or have the courtesy of reading the link submitted in the first post in this thread, then why bother to submit a comment?

My point is that GingerHead has not even proven that he is the best fighter at 154, let alone 160, or in all of boxing.Enlightened-One wrote:OK, how does Tanzio's derogatory comments about Canelo directly relate to Jhonny Gonzalez's comments (i.e. the title of this thread)?Counter-puncher wrote:wrong.Enlightened-One wrote: Off-topic.

If you want to be the anal nitpicker that you have so thoroughly and repeatedly proven yourself to be, try nitpicking the first sentence of the linked story, no light where your head is stuck - one.

OK, so now you've got that off your chest... how about addressing the title of this thread and the title of the article that it refers to?Tanzio wrote:My point is that GingerHead has not even proven that he is the best fighter at 154, let alone 160, or in all of boxing.
If the unimaginable happens… and Canelo defeats GGG, would that make him the pound-for-pound king of boxing?

Hopefully he knows a box of SUPER COLON BLOW has 4,000 Times the amount of fiber the regular COLON BLOW does. Hell of a product.Counter-puncher wrote:I bet your colon is like a warzone

I didn't have anything on my chest to remove. You should remove that over blown pumpkin attached to your neck from your ass so you could at least have a chance to live up to your moniker.Enlightened-One wrote:OK, so now you've got that off your chest... how about addressing the title of this thread and the title of the article that it refers to?Tanzio wrote:My point is that GingerHead has not even proven that he is the best fighter at 154, let alone 160, or in all of boxing.

If GingerHead fought 3G this year, in place of Jacobs, and defeated him, I would weigh that performance v the performance of the winner of SOGgy v Krusher to determine my subjective choice of p4p king. However, that is not happening. Therefore, it would be ignorant to leap to a conclusion given that there are far too many variables involved, not the least of which is the possibility of Jacobs shocking the world and defeating 3G.
Have you corrected the author of the linked story on his double negative yet, no light where your head is stuck - one?
