Flanagan: Now or never for Crolla fight - One or Two Left at 135

Terry Flanagan has admitted that a weight jump is imminent.

Flanagan, who is 31-0 with 12 KOs, is currently in limbo and waiting on a date for his next world title defence.

“I’m growing out of the weight, it’s killing now to make lightweight. “I’ve got one, maybe two more fights left at this weight and then I’m going to move up to [super-lightweight].” Flanagan already has his eyes on titles further up the food chain and, should he not be able to unify at lightweight, that will be the plan. “We heard that [Terence] Crawford was vacating the WBO [title] at [super-lightweight],” he continued, “so we were going to move up and see if we could fight for that title but that seems to have gone a bit quiet now so if we want to get this fight [with Anthony Crolla] it’s got to happen this year or early next year or I can’t see the fight happening myself.”

Personally, I don't rate Flanagan, nothing against him, but I don't think he's even wellkniwn to casual Manchester boxing fans. He's had over 30 fights without defeat, I would like to see this fight. Even if Crolla loses a rematch to Linares, domestically this fight would still be big, but Flanagan would be a favourite..

Crolla has the immediate rematch with Linares, the bigger fight right now and possibility of revenge. The first was an excellent contest, so a rematch is a commodity. Rivalries can make good business.

Maybe, win lose or draw Crolla can follow a Linares rivalry with a rivalry against Flanagan. Is there time? That would be a great way to close his career, regardless of the result, both big sells in Manchester, where he likes to fight.

Obviously, frustrating times for Flanagan, a strong, fit and talented fighter who came across well ringside during the Linares v Crolla battle.

All casual fans in England should know him, if not, they're not even casuals, just people who will watch it occasionally if it's on.

Let's be honest, Flanagan is not going to be a crossover star based on his personality, is he. I like the bloke but charismatic, he ain't.

I think the best bet for him is to challenge Ricky Burns. I'm sure Hearn could build that into a massive fight. Hold it in Manchester, Scotland or Newcastle with the right undercard. If Campbell comes through against Mathews maybe it would be a double 'world' title fight.

As long as Gallagher as Crollas trainer this fight will never happen. There was a window to do it but he came up with excuse after excuse.

With the right promotion it would have done more ticket sale than last weekend.

It's done now unfortunately both guy have to move on.

Eubank Jr. and Fury can't sell without the right opponent. Crolla-Flannagan sells out with the right build up.
