Probably AJ among the shìt munchers but has to be Hatton overall. Don't think we'll see the likes of what Hatton done again. Not for a long long time anyway.

I didn't realise Skeete was popular? Buglioni always had a big following.

The ones still active, I'd say... unfortunately, Joshua. The casual crowd love AJ for some reason. For the more hardcore fans, I'd go with Crolla I haven't seen anyone with a bad word to say about the guy. If he was a bit more skilled he'd be a mainstream fighter along the lines of how Froch was imo.

No fighter will ever take a following to America the way Hatton did ever again was phenomenal when thinking about it,

Its impressive filling out arenas in your home town but to do it with Brits in America is another level!

I think it's possible Mick Conlon will take a few out to America for his fights but not close to Ricky I appreciate he's Irish

Currently out of that list - Crolla for me....he just literally seems like the nicest bloke.

Joshua may be more 'popular' as in 'he is more well known to the public eye' but that doesn't mean he is actually that popular in terms of people actually liking the bloke.

Hatton otherwise for the memories, always popular and as others have said, he just captivated everyone and what a ride that was.

Easy for me, Fury, people should be embracing this guy, you have a pole up ya ass if you take some of the things he says serious. One of the greatest if not the greatest win in British boxing history and everyone hates him for it bunch of wankers!

Definitely seconded this. Both Linares and Crolla seem real nice blokes, and it was nice to see the respect before and after the fight, and them both to fight their hearts out in the ring.

AJ is clearly one of the most popular to the general public, lots of positive public appearances (Soccer AM, League of their own etc.). The media is a powerful machine. But it's fair to say that Joshua wouldn't achieve the same thing Hatton did in Las Vegas.

Purely as an observer of others - I'd said AJ is right up there now.

Overall though, nobody could hold a candle to Hatton in his heyday.

I'd say hatton due to his following especially abroad. I would also say that hamed in his prime was a big deal and people pthat didn't know/watch boxing still knew of hamed because of the whole package he was.

Conlan has already worked a few up the wrong way with his pathetic outburst after losing a very close fight in the Olympics. Has me wondering if he has a massive chip on his shoulder.
The Irish angle works well in Yankee land though. Weirdly.

Hatton tapped in to the football fan mentality. It can be done again but needs the right mix. World class fighter, exciting style, working class ( obviously that will be the easiest box to tick! ) and loves football. A lot of these lads today owe Hatton a lot. Even Calzaghe owes Ricky. He made boxing and big boxing events popular again.

I like him and agree that people should have taken to him a bit more but he don't help himself! Greatest win ever? No chance! Not even the best of the previous decade. Hatton beating Tszyu was a better win for example. Arguably Froch over Bute and Calzaghe over Kessler and Hopkins too.

I like Fury but calling it one of the greatest wins in British boxing history is doing a massive disservice to British boxing history, we've had Turpin dethrone Robinson and Honeyghan bash Curry amongst others whereas Fury beat probably the worst heavyweight champion since the second world war and when I say heavyweight champions I don't mean titlists I mean regarded as the divisions number one.

None of those wins were anything like as good as Fury's. They were all pretty close fights, look at the odds and opinions before them. Joe was a big favourite. Tyson was 9/2, in Germany and nobody gave him a chance.

Hmm, that's a good point, maybe warrington is coming close with his 'Leeds' connection, I was at his last fight his fans were mental!!
