Hello BoxRec,
The profile of "Alexander Dimitrenko" states that his birthplace is "Yevpatoria, Crimea, Russia". The territory of Crimea belongs to Ukraine. United States of America has not recognized the annexation of Crimea by Russia, and has proclaimed it as illegal. Please fix Alexader's birthplace to "Yevpatoria, Crimea, Ukraine".
Thank you.

Sorry, but no. This issue has already been discussed, and it was finally agreed upon that Crimea is Russian. This is not a political website.

First of all, you made it "political" by listing Alexander Dimitrenko's birthplace incorrectly as Russia instead of Ukraine. Print the facts, and there won't be any political discussion.
Check "Wikipedia's" webpage on Alexander Dimitrenko; it has him listed as "Yevpatoria, Crimea, Ukraine".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Dimitrenko
Second of all, where was this discussed, and who made the decision? For some reason, Oleksandr Usyk's birthplace is listed as just "Ukraine". He is also from Crimea; he was born in Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine. Are you afraid that K2 Promotions will put pressure on you if you list him from Crimea, Russia?
It seems like you are picking and choosing for some reason.

Overwhelming majority of the nations that your editors are from, recognize that Crimea is a part of Ukraine.

However, even though it is already obvious that you are wrong, I went to the source and contacted "Fight Fax", boxing's official records keeper, and I inquired them about Alexander Dimitrenko's birthplace. Their answer: "Crimea, Ukraine".
If needed, I can post their email response on this thread.
It is obvious now why the Association of Boxing Commissions chose them instead of BoxRec to be the official records keeper, when BoxRec is posting such blaring inaccuracies.
Therefore, please put the correct birthplace of Alexander Dimitrenko - "Yevpatoria, Crimea, Ukraine".
Thank you.

To be correct in these kind of cases we would need to be able to code the geographical locations to be accurate in time.
F ex Crimea should be listed as part of Soviet Union until 1991, then part of Ukraine until a while back and currently as Russia ('cause contemporary boxing in Ukraine is run by Russian authorities). Alas, this kind of a time-specification is AFAIK not possible in our system.
FightFax can write whatever they want as they don't have a true database like us...
So - actually Dimitrenko was NOT born in Ukraine, but in Ukrainian SSR of Soviet Union.

If you are claiming to have the "true database", even though you are not licensed by the Association of Boxing Commissions like Fight Fax, and we both confirmed that the accurate answer to Alexander Dimitrenko's birthplace is "Yevpatoria, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union", why hasn't BoxRec changed it yet?
You can even take a look at the official Alexander Dimitrenko's Facebook profile bio. If you translate the first sentence in German to English, it states: "Alexander Dimitrenko is born in the former Soviet Union on 5 July 1982 at the Crimean peninsula."

We can't change it, so please stop insisting. Why, you ask? Because our database/system works a certain way, and it is not possible to enter anything else than we have right now for Dimitrenko, except for changing Crimea back to Ukraine, but that won't happen. So, thanks for your request, and have a nice day!
