In the 20th century, Cuban boxers were so fantastic that greatness was written all over them every time they stepped into a boxing ring:
Kid Gavilan, Kid Chocolate, Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles, and Luis Manuel Rodriguez, just to start, are top 100 great all time p4p by anyone's standards. These were extraordinary and exceptional boxers.

Then, you got good quality tough customers like Ultiminio "Sugar" Ramos, Jose Legra, Florentino Fernandez, Benny "Kid" Paret, Doug Valliant, Orlando Zulueta, Isaac Logart and Nino Valdez.

There was another Cuban great that fought in the time of the Black Murderer's Row era, but, I don't remember his name right now.

But, anyway, Cuban boxing contributions to the sport is rich and full in its history. I think it will be a great book to have.

Angel Robinson Garcia was one journeyman fighter out of Cuba. He fought lots of former world champions in different weight classes. He had over 150 plus fights

Don't forget Jose Stable. Outstanding welter until he fought Griffith for the title. After that he seemed to tailspin. I always found it interesting where the Cuban fighters ended up after that little fracas in '59. You had some head to Europe (Legra and Garcia), some to Miami (Fernandez, Rodriguez, Vaillant), some to NY (Logart, Paret, Stable, Zulueta) and some to Mexico (Napoles and Ramos). Any port in a storm to show their wares, I guess. What an incredible glut of talent at that time. As I'm writing this I just remembered another one. Anyone recall Baby Luis? An absolutely beautiful boxer. I watched his fight with Howard Winstone and it was 10 rounds of beautiful boxing.

All fighters mentioned so far I have covered in the book including Baby Luis who is the least well known and who was the son of another fighter also named Baby Luis. An easy going weed smoking character he was a good boxer puncher who died in the eighties in a gunfight over a drug deal gone sour
