In a fight that virtually guarantees wild action, they will square off for a vacant interim junior lightweight title on Dec. 17 in the main event of an HBO "Boxing After Dark" card at The Forum in Inglewood, California, after their camps finalized a deal Thursday, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya told ESPN.com.

I just have a feeling that it will end in a draw. :bag: in a hard hitting fight.

I LOVE IT!

After Orlando Salido vs Francisco Vargas I said "Any pairing of Francisco Vargas, Salido, Miura or Roman "Rocky" Martinez would make for a great fight" and we're getting 2 of those matchups this year. Salido becomes the first of the 3 to have faced all 3 of those guys. Gotta love the guy. He always gives you bang for your buck. :box:

Had a fighter ever had 5 successive FOTY caliber bouts? Terdsak, Martinez, Martinez II, Vargas...Miura?

Not many fighters have lately definitely, but the great action fighter Carmen Basilio fought the Ring Magazine Fight of the Year 5 consecutive years in a row...I'm sure there was a sh*t load of bouts in between the Fight of the Year fights as well though given the era.

Bobby Chacon probably wasn't far off but you're right Salido has had an insane run.

I was hoping to be the first to mention Chacon.

Salido, Vargas, Miura and Martinez are kind of a poor man's Chacon, Boza, Bazooka Limon and Navarette.

Props to Salido for those two with Juanma Lopez as well. They were even better fights than the ones in the last couple of years.

But for me Salido is also reminiscent of Zaragoza and Medina, in terms of grit and longevity. Although they didn't trade punches as much as Salido.
