You are the promoter - Create an event

Post by actjac »

I have done this before.

I am asking you to create the biggest boxing event possible for a PPV broadcast....4 or 5 fights with current boxers. Name the site location and the pay per view price that you think fans would reasonably pay for it......use the logic of what would draw the most subscribers and not just from the viewpoint of a boxing purist on a boxing forum.

While it's tempting to go crazy, and put together a supercard with every single fight we'd want to see in Boxing that's just not possible both from a promotional standpoint and from a monetary standpoint. So I'll put together what I think would be one of the great cards possible, that would actually be realistic to make.

Bantamweight: Lee Haskins vs Jamie McDonnell
Lightweight: Dejan Zlaticanin vs Terry Flanagan (winner gets Jorge Linares)
Super Middleweight: Callum Smith vs Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez
Middleweight: Gennady Golovkin vs Billy Joe Saunders
Heavyweight: Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder

It'd still be a pretty expensive card, to put together, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to charge a little extra for ticket prices and PPV prices for a card of this magnitude, and I think people would happy to pay.

All these fights are makeable and would be big in the U.K. especially, but virtually all of them would have international intrigue around them as well.

Undercards:
2: JERMALL CHARLO - DEMETRIUS ANDRADE - middleweight: winner get a chance against winner of main event

4: IVAN BARANCHYK - MIKE REED - light welterweight - battle of unbeaten prospects, winner make way to the elite of division
5: Pro debut for ROBEISY RAMIREZ
6: Some local New York boxer against decent oposition, lets say WILL ROSINSKY -CORY CUMMINGS - light heavyweight

Far too much realism in this post.

Fight 1) Fury - Joshua
Fight 2) Wilder - Klitschko
Fight 3) Kovalev - Ward
Fight 4) Alvarez - Pacquiao
Fight 5) Lara - Mayweather

I am convinced that this is the correct 5-fight card to acquire greatest revenue. Hopefully it would be valid to charge more than the $100 Pacquiao - Mayweather price, so... probably $110. Probably only does 5 million ppv buys, because I'm pretty sure there aren't many untapped viewers who didn't order Mayweather - Pacquiao. Could probably get away with paying the fighters $185 million total, but it's possible that Mayweather wouldn't be willing to fight Lara for less than $infinite.

Great card except I wouldn't be putting Haskins in a PPV broadcast with his style

This would do wembley easily and the hype would be off the roof especially if wilder went into full on Heel mode.Brash, fast talking, arrogant big punching American v 'humble' brit. The whole country would be willing him to smash the 'yank'

Well the Haskins vs McDonnell card would be the first on the card. That one was more about just a competitive matchup that would carry interest in the U.K., the 3 fights at the top of the bill are the big ticket sellers. I think Dejan Z vs Flanagan would go over well too.
