Banned in competition not 1 month plus from the fight. Name another fighter done for coke, not in competition.

So boxers are allowed to take drugs as long as it is at least a month before their fight?

Interesting rule, does this apply to all drugs ?

The issue here is that like it or not the world heavyweight champion has to set an example. He has to have the character to carry this off. He can't be making offensive comments, regardless of what he really believes, he cannot take illegal drugs, and can't be seen mixing with criminals, although in Fury's case that's difficult!
If he had adopted the expected lifestyle he could have made as much as Mayweather throughout the years. Now he's in serious danger of ending up in a terrible mess, financially and in terms of his health. Some people simply don't have the personality to cope, nor do they have the wise old head to gently keep them on the right path, someone they can look up to. Sadly I think that's where Fury is.
I also strongly suspect that the Board may have to suspend his licence regardless of what the world organisations do. If that happens he couldn't fight in the UK until he got it back.

Yes, I was a bit shocked to hear Peter Fury (who I think the voice of reason in that camp) insinuate that Fury is not financially secure. Yes at 27, the bigger paydays should be to come - but surely he doesn't have to worry about getting another job if his career ended tomorrow.

To be fair though, no one has really said "oh Ricky, your depression was a smoke screen for being caught red handed on the sniff" - Ricky announced his depression after he got caught.

It could very well be a coping mechanism for his mental health issues.

I agree. Mental health issues and drug taking go hand in hand. I wouldnt be surprised if he was bipolar.

This reflects really badly on his trainer and the people around him. Why didn't they steer him away from all the controversy and away from temptations like drugs and gobbing off to sycophantic interviewers with ulterior motives

The fact that peter fury is also his uncle makes him doubly culpable. The man is a proven criminal scumbag and clearly hasn't reformed. He should hang his thick head in shame.

Pathetic comment, what makes you think Peter hasn't reformed? A genuinely decent man and boxing trainer, and you're on an internet forum slandering him, probably after a load of pints??! You're a waste of space, who offers nothing.

Tyson Fury is a grown man and I'm guessing one that can't be easily led, tamed or told what to do.

There is a limit to how much influence his team will have over him or should be expected to have over him.

Why did you claim "he clearly hasn't reformed" ?? How or why is that clear? Are you suggesting he's supplying his own nephew with cocaine??! The guy he trains??? Absolutely slanderous and you know it's bollocks . You're just like the rest, can't wait to take a s-hit on a man and his family, when they are down.

Tyson has made a mistake, no doubt about it, he has broken the rules and he will have to abide by those rules, whatever the respective governing bodies decide.

But there are a few comments on these threads well wide of the mark.

The guy never cheated. There is nothing performance enhancing about cocaine. I've seen it referred to on these boards, repeatedly, as a stimulant as if that means anything.

The guy has very likely got mental health issues. People insinuating he made them up to cover up for the cocaine issue really should be sure of that before spouting it online.
Mental health issues could have been a causal factor in his choice in lifestyle. His choice in life style could be a causal factor in his mental health issues. I would have serious reservations about leveling criticism at anyone who may be suffering mentally.

The guy is human. We can all sit here on a pedestal, telling the world he should be a role model.
No one knows what happens inside his head. No one here can tell the pressure he is under and the temptations of his new found fame.

I've taken the stuff before and I don't consider myself a "bad example to the young uns", equally I'm not a millionaire sportsman I suppose.

But let's not forget who will lose most from this. It's his body, it's his decision what he puts in it and he will be the one that pays the greatest penalty for getting caught.

No need to be implicating Peter Fury in all this. A man who as far as I can see has turned his own life full circle. Made mistakes and paid his dues in full. Now a genuine source of good in his community for young people. I feel for Fury getting caught for whiff while heavyweight champion of the world will cost him £20million.

However if you think he won't come back from this you are crazy. Controversy sells and his personality is such that he will be a big draw WHEN he returns.

And return he shall. This is no feather duster man.

Clearly hasn't reformed in that he!s still a fvcking liar.

I!m not delighted. I feel sorry for Tyson but he only has himself to blame both for his own misdemeanours and for surrounding himself with wrong uns
