Khan's 7th opponent - speculate
Khan will be fighting next at the Braehead on the 27th March (Harrison card.)
Interesting, the BBC quote Warren as saying "It'll be an overseas opponent, I hope an American who can extend him a few rounds."
Anyone care to guess?

Khan is miles away from facing someone like Augustus,Cannibal wrote:Floyd Mayweather.
Seriously though, I'd like to see Khan in with Emanuel Augustus.
It would be stupid to risk his career at this point, the kid is just starting out.
What he needs is someone who can take a punch, throw some back and make him think and work in the ring,
a good British opponent could be Henry Castle, he would be competitive and come to win.

How about Johnny Walker if they insist on a Yank? Walker has some decent skill which will make Khan have to think more. A step up in class of journeyman but hes going to pose no threat whatsoever which is what they're looking for. He recently fought Corley and John Murray.
Yes I think Augustus may sink him at this stage.

That might not be a bad shout at all actually, P-N.
Augustus would be one hell of a statement to make at the end of the year though, if Khan progresses as quickly as he seems to think he will.

His next opponent, whoever it is wil be picked so they can take a bit of punishment and cant really delivery a decent punch back! There gunna want to make him go a decent number of rounds without exposing him to to much risk

I should be on SN payroll for finding such an ideal opponent for the golden goose.
http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=219712
This kid is perfect for the golden goose,
Selling points for ITV to go overboard with
He is 20yrs old,....ambition.
He is a lightweight..like Khan
Trained by Roger Mayweather,....Floyds trainer also.
Only one loss,
12 wins,
Things they will not mention
His loss was to a less than tallented fighter...to say the least
His record suggests he is no puncher....so he fits the profile.

Very similar to the last opponent for Khan, same type of record, etc.tonyevs wrote:I should be on SN payroll for finding such an ideal opponent for the golden goose.

augustus would be downright crazy to take at this time in his career - maybe after about 15 fights. I'd say djibaba (guy who mitchell beat) over eight rnds. Yes i know he's a superfeatherweight but if khan came in at say 135/136 i dnt think lightweight vs superfeatherweight is too bad at this stage in his career. Also it will be a good gauge of his power as mitchell cudnt put a dent in this fellow.
Yes, but his weight suggests he is a s-feather, just like boxrec rate him...and Khan is more a lt-welter than a lightweight...and never likely to be a s-feather.stujones wrote:He fought Murray for the WBC Youth LIGHTWEIGHT title.tonyevs wrote:Why? the guy is a s-feather...wouldn`t you like to see him in with somebody his own weight category?stujones wrote:Would like to see Khan in with John Murray's last opponent.

I would suggest looking amongst these characters:
http://www.boxrec.com/ratings.php?natio ... M&index=75
I think Ray Ryan fits the bill...or is he too dangerous with 1win?

btw MTG - have you heard anything about Young & McNeil fighting on this card? Someone told me they were going to try to get this fight again. I think McNeil's ban is up???
