Developing Boxing Power

Post by Adoniss »

If you read the 'Khan Vs Jackson Williams' post you will see alot of ppl (well actually everyone) disagrees with me about the meaning of power in boxing!

So I wanted to know other ppls oppion on how to develop 'boxing' power, what methods they use and techniques they implement into their routines if any to develop speed and punch power plz. :box:

Are you then saying you don't think you know enough about power in a boxing sense?

'Kharn' is spelled 'Khan'. But at least you have the decency to mis-spell 'Adonis'.

hitting the heavy bag
Pylometrics - eg press ups with claps
lifting heavy weights in an EXPLOSIVE fashion (rather than bodybuilding, slow style)

First hit puberty, then I'm sure your strength will increase as you become more of a man.

KHAN - Oh yer. i spelt adoniSS like that coz 'adonis' was taken as a username!

Yes! I would like to learn more and see how i can improve myself by listening to others. I dont think just my methods are right, and if everyone disagrees with me it would be intresting to know why and what u all think would be better to improve ones power!

I am not being simplistic or taking the piss, but the best way is to go to a local boxing club and learn to punch properly.

I thought you said you were already a boxer? If you were then they would be telling you how to develop your punch power at the gym, or do you just shadowbox in your room in your underpants whilst simultaneously jacking off to pictures of bodybuilders...for instance?

Here's my advice then. You have a huge misunderstanding on what makes a boxer a powerful puncher. The fact you are hellbent on trying to increase something that is more natural than anything shows your lack of boxing knowledge. I advise you to give up boxing and go be a powerlifter, since that will best fit what you desire.
