I can understand why people feel disappointed in Peter, but ultimately he's only sticking by his family. What else was he gonna do? He's in quite an awkward position

In this day and age with the ridiculous belts, and given the frequency Hughie was fighting before getting Ill, I don't think that was such an outlandish statement tbh.BigDoofus wrote:After claiming Hughie would be the youngest ever world heavyweight champion?Stevieb8006 wrote:I can understand why people feel disappointed in Peter, but ultimately he's only sticking by his family. I agree with some other posters earlier on.
I couldn't care less what he takes, as long as he plays the game. Do it in your own time, not a few weeks prior to the second biggest fight of your life, when you know that the chances are very high that you will be "randomly" tested.
Excuse to get out of the fight again? Pathetic. He's lost any respect he gained from me in the last fight. I was disappointed following the PED incident recently, but more disappointed that he still looks a bag of shit despite taking them, and now this!
I feel sorry for Wlad, having his time and money wasted now twice on the bounce. English boxers must be a complete laughing stock to other countries.
I am sticking all my eggs in the Joshua basket now.

He needs a good rest, treatment for whatever really is wrong with him and can hopefully control his weight to a reasonable degree, as this will help the inevitable comeback.
I certainly won't look forward to the comeback. Watch him develop, all over again.
Never expected anything after the Klitschko fight and was pleasantly surprised he won. Just, his whole career seemed to be about fighting the smallest guys available, and avoiding the biggest, and getting to that Wlad fight in one piece. He exceeded expectations but really threw away a home fight with Wlad, during Fury's prime.

Yes Joshua will continue to develop as Fury stagnates.rob h wrote:I agree with some other posters earlier on.

I even thought Joshua would catch up to him if they were both active pros.
You feel sorry for Wlad? Didn't he withdraw from or postpone fighting Fury, before? Or have I got this wrong?
Regarding PEDs, it's surprising and disappointing to see a British boxer in a controversy. But wasn't Wlad's brother busted for it, in the amateurs? And many feel Vitali's retirement shortly after winning the WBC title for the first time as a way of swerving a forthcoming drugs test.
Re: Tyson Fury failed drug test allegedly Cocaine
It's a shame he's got himself into this messy situation because a £5m hometown fight has slipped through his fingers.
He might have earned a quid in Germany, but the rematch as the reigning champion would have set him and his young family up for life.
By the time he gets his act together, comes through any rumoured bans and then starts the eliminator process - that Klitschko pay cheque will be long gone as Wlad will have retired.
Consider this, if Klitschko beats Joshua and/or Parker - then those fights are instantly worth a lot less. Especially if he beats them up and makes them look average.
That pretty much leaves Deontay Wilder.

Didn't he earn that much for the first Klit fight, which would set you up for life anyway I'd say?

No , didn't earn anywhere near that .

If Wlad done that though it may cause people to rate Fury a lo higher, and there'll also be another hyped fighter, even if not as much.G0mez wrote:It's a shame he's got himself into this messy situation because a £5m hometown fight has slipped through his fingers.

The klits are notoriously tough negotiators. Tyson would have gotten a very thin emd of the wedge.Rexob wrote:Floydendizer wrote:No , didn't earn anywhere near that .

The first fight was a mandatory for the WBA title only , vlad put the other 3 belts on the line . Under WBA rules it was an 80/20 split in Vlads favour with the purse , which probably gave Fury about 1 and 1 1/2 million quid .
Re: Tyson Fury failed drug test allegedly Cocaine
I think mandatory challengers have usually gotten around £1.2 to £1.5m against the Klitschkos.

His latest despatch:
Boxing is the saddest thing I ever took part in, all a pile of shit, I'm the greatest, & I'm also retired, so go suck a dick, happy days.

Isn't coke an appetite suppressant? I have taken some in the distance past and had to clarify it for a polygraph and was told for the sport I was doing, it was not allowed to be taken within a year of being a member of that fed for that reason.

Probably, but not for that reason
Re: Tyson Fury failed drug test allegedly Cocaine
So is he banned or what? I can't really keep up or get a straight answer.
There seems to be an element of self-sabotaging about it, almost like he'd be happy with no titles and the pressure and hassle goes away and the papers leave him and his tweets alone.
A year off comes back and fights whoever has the titles then.

I'm not anti people doing a few lines of coke, I'm anti people getting away with abusing the rules of the sport. Lucas Browne got stripped and humiliated for accidentally consuming a banned substance.
"Cocaine is not prohibited by the WADA code out of competition -- only in competition. The commission should not have been testing for cocaine a month before a fight . And it also should not have released positive result."
Wrong, Fury signed up to VADA testing for the Klitschko rematch which means every test is counted as "in competition"

You know what - I thought precisely the same, it's a good way of getting away from the pressure, expectation and responsibilities being the champ brings.orbtastic wrote:So is he banned or what? I can't really keep up or get a straight answer.

When he was challenger, nobody expected him to win, and as he wasn't the champ, he could kind of say and do what he liked, once he won, he realised there were consequences to his words and actions, and he'd have to back it up with another win.
I think the pressure was too much for him to handle in his current state, and failing a drug test, whether consciously or unconsciously done, is an excellent way out.

Sadly for him, I think he's still going to be under the microscope now, title or no title. He's set out a position which will be hard to walk away from.jamesmcdonnell wrote:You know what - I thought precisely the same, it's a good way of getting away from the pressure, expectation and responsibilities being the champ brings.orbtastic wrote:So is he banned or what?
