Margarito has size and punch strength over Floyd, but that's not saying much as everyone Floyd fights seems to have that. However, the difference between Floyd's and Antonio's speed in the ring is outlandish. Floyd would be able to stay away from Margarito the entire fight, and manage to pick his spots when he sees fit, and win by a good sized UD.jamesmcdonnell wrote:The one guy Floyd should fight if he's serious about being a welterweight champion is the one guy nobody seems to want, Margarito. Cotto and Hatton right now aren't interested in fighting Floyd.

Take into consideration that JLC is one of the best fighters of the past 10 years at the lower weights, maybe one of the best at any weight.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Not even seen Margarito yet, but he's a big, solid, powerful middleweight who can fight. When you think that Castillo was able to bring the fight to Mayweather, then you would have to say Margarito would have an arguement.
Also, Floyd took on JLC as his first fight at 135, moving up from Super Feather. That was also only a year after Floyd suffered a broken hand vs Carlos Hernandez, an injury which many wondered if he would be the same after, and if he would be able to recover from it. The fact he went right back at JLC for his next fight, and definitely beat him that time showed what happens when Floyd takes the correct steps. The scorecards may not look as pretty, but anyone who watched both PBF/JLC fights know the second was a better win for Floyd. A lot of things went into Floyd struggling with JLC in their first fight than the skill level of the two.
Wouldn't argue with that at all. And just think what an Oscar win would mean for his career if he can somehow pull it out. Totally understand why they both want it.nickd wrote:Even so its still the biggest fight out there for Mayweather without a doubt. Both in terms of money and accomplishment. A convincing win over DLH would propel his alltime standing into the stratosphere.states wrote:Nope, Oscar guarantees huge money, even if his best days are probably behind him.

I thought the first fight was a better win for PBF personally. Yes he got tagged by some good shots in the middle rounds but he won something like the 5 of the first 6 and another 3 rounds after that on my card. I had it about 8-4 to PBF the only controversy was Castillo had the biggest round of the fight.
I hear you on that. People seem to think at times when a fighter they aren't fans of loses a tough round or two, that makes up for the 4 or 5 other rounds that he won. I think people are also quicker to give out a 10-8 round without a KD faster when they don't like the guy.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:I thought the first fight was a better win for PBF personally. Max Molyneux wrote: Floyd is still unproven at these higher weights to say he's the best out of them. He seems to be taking easier fights when he doesn't need to. Gatti was a Paper champ as Hatton is the proper champ at that weight.
How do we know Gatti's not shot Damgarrd hasn't fought anyone special and his WBC defences were hardly special.
He doesn't deserve the No 1 spot yet he deserves to be ranked but not that high!
If you want to resort to insults then just bring it as there my opinions and I'm entitled to them.
What has Damgarrd got to do with the price of fish? Gatti fought Damgarrd after he fought Mayweather
The numerous decent fighters Gatti beat prior to fighting PBF clearly shows that he was in good form and was far from shot. End of story.
So the fact that PBF was not the linear champ at Light Welter and Welter means that he shouldn't be number 1 in the P4P rankings? That logic is retarded.
Isn't it enough that he was linear champ at 2 weight divisions, he beat 3 potential future hall of famers (who were not shot fighters), he's beaten numerous ex-champs, he's undefeated and has held belts at 3 different weights?
Does he have to be linear champ at 4 different weights to become p4p number one? Nope. It will help him become one of the greats if he does that, but that's irrelevant, we are merely talking about the current P4P rankings.
Like I said no-one out of the top ten p4p fighters can match PBF's achievements. The only one who comes close is Pacman.
........ and by the way your logic is retarded, I'm merely stating facts, no offence intended

I meant to post this when I read it. It was an article in the Scotland on Sunday. Sucked up to Calzaghe, which is fair enough, but this bit just made me bite my own hand off:
(the guy isn't being sarcastic by the way):
"Since taking the title off Chris Eubank as long ago as October, 1997, [Calzaghe] has seen off all-comers, defending his title 18 times against the likes of Germany's Mario Veit (twice)...and Evans Ashira of Kenya, a genuine contender..."

He actually claims not to do weights (maybe he was talking about recent prep because his body looks more boxer like at the moment)Mattyp151 wrote:He is one of the few boxer's who uses weight lifting as training for his fights. This is correct. He says he deosn't lift weights.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:He actually claims not to do weights (maybe he was talking about recent prep because his body looks more boxer like at the moment)Mattyp151 wrote:He is one of the few boxer's who uses weight lifting as training for his fights. I heard that too, that's pretty incredible, but bear in mind, boxers who do lift weights don't normally do heavy weights anyway, too much risk of injury and not really very conducive for flexibility. Press ups use about 60% of your body weight, or 90% if you do a handstand against a wall. That's enough weight to build up arms shoulders back and chest muscles.
Frank Bruno used to do very light weights, and look at the physique he had.

Don't alot of Heavyweights do alot of Heavyweight lifting anyway though? WOnder why Bruno lacked Mobility in later rounds though.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I heard that too, that's pretty incredible, but bear in mind, boxers who do lift weights don't normally do heavy weights anyway, too much risk of injury and not really very conducive for flexibility. Be honest, you dont get that type of arm structure without lifting some sort of weights. I'm not saying he's a powerlifter, but he definitely has to do some sort of higher weight training.MaxPow wrote:This is correct. Something like 14 out of 15 writers at maxboxing are picking Lacy to win, including boxrec's James McD.
Even worse, Graham Houston is picking Lacy too, and he rarely gets it wrong...
Seen his new website?

I'm keepin the faith though - JC by spectacular TKO
