is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
I love the Rickster as a guy but the more i think about it he is going to be busted up this weekend.........or is Relikh vastly overrated?
Is it worth a few quid on Relikh to turn the Rickster into an old relic?

Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
I thought he was spent for a while, but then put in that great performance over in America against Figueroa.
His loss to Crawford is not too bad in comparison to how others have lost to him. Zlaticanin is now WBC champion and Ricky gave him his toughest fight.
We shall see mate.

I was thinking the same but I don't know anything about Relikh. All I know is if he is half decent then Ricky will lose......think it is worth a punt though!
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Can't make a prediction as I've not seen this guy but Hatton is coming across very very confident as if it's a sure thing. After what happened against Zlaticanan I'm sure Burns is well prepared. This guy can obviously bang a bit but Burns has bags of experience, a good chin and has mixed at a much higher level. I can't wait til the first bell to see what's instore!

If his promoter says he is going to win then who am I to disagree!Stuarty30 wrote:Can't make a prediction as I've not seen this guy but Hatton is coming across very very confident as if it's a sure thing. Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
I know it's nothing out of the ordinary promoters/trainers talking their guys up but I've seen and read a few things from Hatton and he comes across very confident. Whether it's bravado or if he actually believes it is another thing. His guy hasn't been tested at all and has had everything his own way. I'm sure that won't be the case against Burns.jameswilson wrote:If his promoter says he is going to win then who am I to disagree!Stuarty30 wrote:Can't make a prediction as I've not seen this guy but Hatton is coming across very very confident as if it's a sure thing. Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Ricky's opponent punches very hard and he's very strong but Ricky is the better boxer imp, points win for Ricky or stoppage win for the opponent
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
This guy is such an unknown quantity, he's managed to get in to a mandatory position without fighting anybody in the top 30.
Will the big step up in class show or is he one of world boxings biggest secrets?
Quite looking forward to this one.

Who is over rating Relikh? Guy is rated 223 on boxrec. Fought nothing but bums. He could be better then his record but Burns operated on the world level and looked good recently. I think he will destroy Relikh.rhino222 wrote:I love the Rickster as a guy but the more i think about it he is going to be busted up this weekend.........or is Relikh vastly overrated?

Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Burns isn't as shot as people make out. He was competitive against Crawford who is a p4p fighter, giving a much better showing than Postol did. He also was competitive enough against Zlat and Fig. Relikh hasn't fought anyone good so unless he's a hidden gem I expect Burns to cruise to a UD.
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Anyone any idea of Relikh's amateur record?
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
I watched a few of that boy's fights earlier. He is raw as a turnip, goes back in straight lines and cant fight on the backfoot so Burns should be doubling up the jab. He is flat footed and square on at times so plenty of lateral movement. But if you stand in front of him he clearly has power. If Burns does his usualy standing on the ropes nonsense then he will be playing into his hands.
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
In the commentary for his last fight with Joaquim Carneiro which I've just watched John Rawling mentions that Relikh "had a fantastic amateur record" and "he claims to have had 300 amateur fights and lost only 20".. but no mention of the level they were at. I can't find anything to back that up on google so unlikely he got anywhere near the Olympics or Worlds. Barry Jones seemed to rate Relikh though.Shanemc wrote:Anyone any idea of Relikh's amateur record?

I was going to try and find some footage on YouTube this week but I'm going to just wait til Friday. What did you think of him?Limmo wrote:In the commentary for his last fight with Joaquim Carneiro which I've just watched John Rawling mentions that Relikh "had a fantastic amateur record" and "he claims to have had 300 amateur fights and lost only 20".. but no mention of the level they were at. I remember watching that fight was a decent calculated performance! Strange there is nothin to back up that record online as if true it's an extremely good recordLimmo wrote:In the commentary for his last fight with Joaquim Carneiro which I've just watched John Rawling mentions that Relikh "had a fantastic amateur record" and "he claims to have had 300 amateur fights and lost only 20".. but no mention of the level they were at. Here is his most recent fight don't think it's on YouTube
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Don't think the opponent had a lot to offer but he dealt with him pretty easily and looked very relaxed, definitely not a wild come forward sort.He looks a puncher at the level he has been operating at, there's a fight on Youtube against a guy called Ty Gilchrist that ends with sickening body punch.Stuarty30 wrote:I was going to try and find some footage on YouTube this week but I'm going to just wait til Friday. Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
There is footage of Relikh online and against poor opposition he looks mediocre at best to me. Nothing at all like Zlaticanin, who with a victory over Petr Petrov was also significantly more proven before his upset of Burns.
Burns should still have enough at this stage to win comfortably.

Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Relikh has been hyped he is an easy defense fight for the rickster.
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
if burns is even at 50 percento of his peak he should beat this guy. burns has fought the best, went the distance wi beltran despite having a broken jaw etc. i would rather see ohara davis fight relikh, better match up , two big punchers, unbeaten.
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Relikh is the new breidis prescott?
Re: is Ricky Burns a busted flush?
Maybe, but Burns has fought top opponents with good power yet never been stopped, and when he's gone down he's looked more in control of himself than Khan generally has when dropped. To me Burns seems less susceptible to that type of KO loss.

I can't see Burns losing this. Relikh is poor.
How Relikh has got a world title shot is one of life's mysterys like the Bermuda Triangle or who shot JFK.
