Interesting signing for Hearn. If Ortiz is to based in the UK (does anyone know?), it is quite interesting to see how Hearn will match him.

Will Matchroom let Ortiz fight its other HW-prospects Whyte and/or AJ? Will Hearn take Ortiz down the "British road" with fights against people like Chisora, Price, Allen etc.? Or will he manage him as the global fighter and pursue the same kind of fights Ortiz was targeting when he was at GB? Im inclined to think that its the latter option. How do you see it?

Ortiz don't have the years to walk the "British road". To AJ is too valuable to risk against Ortiz. And I really don't know what MR can do better than GB in global....
We'll see if it was wise from Ortiz side to waste a year for this.

I never thought I'd say this about Ortiz. That's a good move.

Ortiz won't have to worry about dodgy judges or referees again, a certain promoter already has that angle covered.
Hardly any wonder Ricky Burns was given gift decisions and Carl Froch saved by referees :D

If this news is true, it's a great move for Ortiz.

Why wouldn't it be true? Eddie's put out 3 tweets about it and it's on the sky sports website.

He's probably questioning the validity of it due to the source, now it may well be true but hand on heart do you really believe that this promoter is on the up and up.
Many of his fighters have been involved in robberies of one kind or another, just look at Ricky Burns and Carl Froch stopping of George Groves in their 1st fight, hardly what you call a stand up guy now is he.

Stand up guy is a description I've never heard used for a Boxing promoter. It's being reported here too, no reason to think it's false. Though Froch never once needed help in his career. I thought that was a bit premature, it saved Groves from an inevitable KO.

It probably is true. The only reason why I used the word "if" was because this forum and sometimes Tweets can occasionally be based on rumour.

Will do, you keep clinging to the thought that groves could ever beat froch.

I don't cling to any such thought of a boxer beating a matchroom fighter anymore, pretty clear how they have operated over the years.

Yeah definitely. Eddie Hearn has become one of the real movers and shakers in Boxing lately. He's putting good fights together on a regular basis. Ortiz will definitely get more opportunities and a busier schedule fighting for him.

Now I guess I understand what Haye means by "you will be happy" without naming Briggs...

Oh wait, ofcourse not, Ortiz is way too good compared too Haye, Haye would never agree on him either.

Whilst I think Ortiz is a top heavyweight talent wise; one thing that we still don't really know as fans is what his durability is like. Does he have a good chin or does he have a glass chin? Or something in between maybe. Kayode was a blown up cruiserweight in fairness and Jennings- as good a fighter he is, he's not exactly a puncher which I think most people would agree with. You then have the Thompson fight but he looked shot to shit so you can't really gauge anything from that.

Just by looking at his neck he probably can take a decent punch

And the way he fights aggressively means he is confident
in his ability to take a punch else he would fight alot
more defensively minded

He is aggressive but he's still a counter puncher by nature but he does it on the front foot which is fun to watch.
