Relikh is a good fighter and proved he belongs at that level. The scorecards were an embarrassment to British boxing and should be investigated. There's not an impartial sane person in the world that could have arrived at the score they did. Clear bias. It pains me to say but there's no other way to describe it. Enough is enough!
Scorecards aside I think Burns deserves more credit than he's getting here. He beat a good fighter and the dodgy scoring is deflecting. It was a good fight and I wouldn't mind seeing it again tbh. Burns will probably get Broner now though. Good pay day but Burns is made for Broner.
The WBA appointed the officials and two of the judges were foreign so how is this an embarrassment to British boxing? Relikh fought a great fight but I (FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH) had Burns winning by 1. The ref was British and I thought he did a good job (watched the fight back and it was not a kd so no complaints on that point)
As I have said time and time again if you all think you can do a better job then apply to the BBBoC and become a ref.

How is it not? There's always officials from 'neutral' countries but this bias always seems to happen regardless depending on where you are. I am a big fan of our sport and I love every bit of it but why are you trying to argue with me? I can take and handle an arguement if it's fair but are you saying that we are fair and I'm talking crap? I dunno mate? Fill me in?

Hope Ricky get Broner and a great pay day next, the one thing last night did say was Ricky most Defo isn't a light welter
Do you feel he was a better fighter under your charge?
Terminator666 wrote:How can judges scoring be so different to everyone else? Is something going on? Or do they subconsciously lean toward the home fighter?
Well it can't be due to corruption. Because if they were taking bribes, surely they would not go out of their way to draw attention to themselves with outlandish cards.
burns won for me . but i thought relikh won the first 2, then burns for me found his footing in 3 not much in it , but then i thought burns bossed it gave burns 4, 5,6,7,8,9. gave 10,11 to relikh 12 was closer. thought it was closer then some of the judges ,but i really enjoyed it , burns is a real boxing legend in my eyes . the heart and chin of that man is unwavering
PredatorHayds wrote:Anyone else notice how Relikh has his chin permanently up in the air.
See him getting stopped by a decent level puncher if he stays at this level.
I thought it was a poor world championship fight between a shot fighter and one out of his depth.
Really not looking forward to seeing Ricky against Broner. Could be one way traffic.
Yes, that was one of the first things I've noticed.
I thought he's domestic level at best.
Good matchmaking by Matchroom but Burns should of won easily.
Shame he's had financial problems as I'd love him to walk away.
Broner a big big step to far.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Relikh delivered to Ohara Davies. Davies would find that chin early.

He was pretty slick when it came to rolling under punches though and slipping shots. He made Ricky miss quite a lot. Like I said last night, he reminded me a bit of Dmitry Pirog but a poor man's version. His power was nowhere near what his record suggested either. It's pretty clear his padded record helped in that sense.

you say that about power but burns has never been stopped , and he has faced some punchers ,but i know where your coming from ,his record of banging people out is blown up , i think that is why relikh lost heart ,after the 3rd when burns was still standing
Thought Rellikh was the better fighter and won the fight, but Burns old-manned him.
Used his greater experience of the distance to pace himself and skank just enough rounds.
You'd have to fancy Relikh in a re-match. (with fair scoring of course!).

Ah yeah Burns's has a great chin aswell which clearly factors into the equation. Its just that Relikh's punches didn't seem like they had a huge amount of pop of them either. I mean if you watch guys like Kovalev or Stevenson or Golovkin, etc, - you can tell that they legitimately hit very hard versus their records make them look to be bigger punchers than they actually are like Relikh's did a little I think.

agree like i said, see where your coming from ,the normal fighters relikhs meet usually fold when banged , differently not as heavy handed as his record shows, think that alarmed him a little after the 2 rd like why is burns still here
He seems more like a powerful attritional type than a concussive, at any moment banger, and given that he'd only been past 5 once and was throwing heavy shots from early on he did well to finish strong over the 10th, 11th, and 12th.
One thing he should work on is his body language. He was visibly expressing his frustration at times when Burns would tag him with a right or make him miss, and it's easier to score rounds against him when that happens; it's basically him letting everyone know that his opponent is being effective. Guys like Groves and Mauricio Herrera also have a tendency to show what they're feeling too readily.
In all, I think he did very well considering his prior experience, and I believe that an EBU title and another shot at a major ABC strap (a fight with Troya would be fun) are realistic ambitions.

your right did not have a poker face, he also tried to throw the shoulder in when he was getting hit, think it was in the 9th
Remember A judge gave Scott Quigg the fight against Franpton. No way at all could anyone have given him any I the first 8 rounds as he barely threw a punch.
I thought burns shaded. It but I'll make an effort to rewatch the fight later and score.

Frampton was rubbish as well.
Quigg could have won a few of the early rounds.
Frampton's work in the early rounds is massively overrated on here.

Especially if the judge felt that Quigg was as 'Mayweather-esque' in his defence as Gallagher claimed...
