Anyone else not have any interest in lighter weights?

I know I am probably missing out on loads of good fights and fighters but I have absolutely zero Interest in any division below 122 (Roman Gonzales aside, but even then I am not that interested in him).

Anyone else no interest in watching small guys fight?

It's not so much that I have no interest in the lighter weights, but anything under super-feather tends to get very little coverage and I don't have enough interest to actively seek them out. Gonzales is fvcking great to watch, and I'm sure there's plenty of others worth watching.

Yeah pretty much anything below 147 doesn't interest me other than a few exceptions (Crawford, Lomachenko etc. )

Even a very-watchable genius like Chocolito Gonzalez would be life and death with (say) Dale Miles.
I don't mind the elite-matchups, British interest fights etc. but knowing the above takes the gloss of the <118lbers for me.

Would love to watch Chocolito vs Dale Miles for the vacant English 147lbs title tho'

What do people like about watching boxing? Does that get cancelled out just because in some odd hypothetical land Roman Gonzalez would lose to Deontay Wilder (who in turn could probably be taken down and toyed with by some middleweight MMA fighter)? Wouldn't Wilder, Ortiz, or AJ also probably bust up much smaller men like Lebedev, Kovalev, Stevenson, Degale, and Golovkin?

Light fighters show plenty of speed, skill, guts, and ability to hurt one another, and are regularly involved in action-filled fights (where are all the HW wars these days?). It can be harder to follow them though, as they generally get much less coverage in the West than the bigger guys do.

I draw the line at bantam below that they are just freakishly small men and the competition is reduced by the lack of people that size.. But at bantam and above there are some great fights.

The super fly weight division should be red hot for the next year or two.

No idea who Dale Miles is but I bet Chocolatito beats him to pulp at 115. And at some kind of no rules contest Chuck Norris beats the sht out of both of them.

Seems to me that luck of interest for small weights is entirely down to the luck of fighter in those division. As was said, few men are that small in most parts of the world. As a result they get less hype and media attention. Otherwise all weights look pretty much the same to me. Chocolatito has now become one of the biggest names in boxing after getting under the spotlight. And his fight against Inoue will be a must see event for boxing fans if it happens.

Of course heavy weights are a bit special, but thats another story.

Roman Gonzalez, Kazuto Ioka - tremendous offensive fighters.

and there is a whole big industry in Japan that you risk dismissing.

I get a lot out of the speed, skill and fast pace.

That was Juan Manuel Lopez.

Ricardo Lopez put on beautiful boxing and had a great repertoire. Some outstanding wins - early KOs of Ohashi, Sor Vorapin and Saman Sorjaturang - but he suffered in terms of exposure by campaigning mostly at strawweight.

Then after a near miss up at junior flyweight he won the great rematch with the bigger Rosendo Alvarez. Lopez put it all together that night and won a truly great fight on points.

Considered a legend in Mexico but many are disappointed he didn't move up to junior flyweight when Michael Carbajal and Humberto Gonzalez were having big money fights there.

Can't say I ever watch anything below bantam weight. I probably would watch them if the fights were on but I wouldn't seek the fights out.

I don't know much about the lighter weight divisions and hardly ever watch the contests (my loss I know).
I only really follow the higher divisions - mostly the heavyweights to be honest.

I quite like the smaller weights. I was a big fan of Barrera, Morales, Ricardo Lopez, Johnny Tapia growing up.The first two Barrera v Morales fights were epic.

Nowadays I look forward to watching Gonzalez and Tete

I keep an eye for a handful of fighters at lower weights, Roman, Donaire & lomachenko being the obvious ones, but truthfully I find myself with rather little interest in anything below 135.

I regularly stay up to 6am on Saturday night/Sunday morning to watch fights that interest me, but can't remember the last time i stayed up specifically for a fight fought under 135, maybe Donaire vs Walters.

Even watching Gonzalez came about from watching Golovkin with Roman on his undercards. Had Roman been the headline, I probably wouldn't have stayed up.
