TAKALOO – A WELTERWEIGHT THREAT?

I didn't see his last fight but have heard mixed reports – although he apparently looked good, some people say he hasn't carried his weight down with him, although he boxed very well....

Anyone have any opinion on his chances against Young Muttley or maybe a European title shot against Otkay Urkal?

I can't see why Takaloo can't compete on the domestic front.
I don't think that you can read to much into the negative reports from his last fight. Takaloo had been out of the ring for a while and Uzan was a capable opponent to take on in his Welter debut.

I'd like to see him fight a couple more of this type of opponents, get his sharpness back a bit more. Hopefully he'll be more busier with his fights as he can't afford to hang around waiting for a shot at the British or Euro title.

Pretty good on the domestic scene, will never be a 'legit' world champ at 147 though!

Who knows what he has left, I'd like to think he has something to offer at the new weight, but we will have to wait to find out.

Considering the bad cut, I always thought he did well against Santos, but he has never looked near that form since - I noticed he also looked quite badly marked up after the fight on Saturday.

Whatever he does he needs to get a shift on with it.

I'll never forget his mad staring lifeless eyes as he went down when Alexander KO'd him. That was awesome. Then about a week later Jantuah did the same thing to Marco Antonio Rubio.

A stern reminder to keep your right hand cover when you throw a meaty left!!

Just a graze and bit of bruising from a clash of heads on Saturday - he didn't need stitches.

Spoke to Jimmy Mac today - he said it was a massive test for Tak on Saturday. Although he said Tak was confident he said in the back of his mind there was the unanswered question of how making the weight would affect him, even though he did it steadily and over a period of time.

Jim said only minus was that he didn't stop him, but that he worked on his speed. He said once Tak starts to settle down on his punches the power he had at light middle will resurface.

However, talking about keeping your guard up – that is EXACTLY the lesson Tak learned against Alexander and he said he'll be using what he feels are his underrated boxing skills now, instead of trying to blitz his opponents. Not only that, but he says he needs to keep active and having delicate hands he needs to protect them and not punch hell for leather for the sake of it.

One really big shot on Uzun's protected head could have meant another six-month break, which he can ill afford.

i think once again Tak is the dark horse in a division but I think he will struggle to get fights with the top boys domestically for the same reasons Jon Thaxton does. Too risky for domestic opposition and a bit too late for a promotor to really plug their own careers with age and having already had their chance
