Re: MMA thread?
Hendo- what a man. Nearly pulled it off again. Just fell a little short. Bispings face looked fornicating mangled lol.
Re: MMA thread?
Has there been a worse champ in recent memory? Top 4 contenders must be licking their lips right now, Whitaker and Mousasi as well.
Re: MMA thread?
Pretty good for a man in his mid 40s. Only caught the last 2 1/2 rounds but Bisping has to know after that, his next defence is going to be a massacre.lefty wrote:Hendo- what a man. Nearly pulled it off again. Just fell a little short. Bispings face looked effing mangled lol.
Re: MMA thread?
The way Henderson throws the right hand is bizarre. He looks so slow and stiff and then out of nowhere the right hand shoots out like a rocket.
Re: MMA thread?
Yes he's not at all technically sound but he seems to be able to hide his right hand well and his power makes some guys fight scared.
Re: MMA thread?
Yeah there's hardly any tell on his right hand at all a lot of the time. When he gets more desperate in the fight he tends to telegraph it more. Hell of a right hand though! Ha.p4p1 wrote:Yes he's not at all technically sound but he seems to be able to hide his right hand well and his power makes some guys fight scared.

Potentially one of the cleanest though.p4p1 wrote:Has there been a worse champ in recent memory? Top 4 contenders must be licking their lips right now, Whitaker and Mousasi as well.
Re: MMA thread?
I had Hendo winning three rounds to two.

I thought it was an even ish fight but with Dan doing almost all the damage, I give him the moral victory. In a fight to a finish Hendo beats Bisping every time.

Time he jumped on the bandwagon I think.

Yeah my view too. Credit to mike though he mixes things up well and always comes with a full gas tank. He was also quite honest at the end there. He was damn nervous for this fight.Tomasino wrote:lefty wrote:Hendo- what a man. Nearly pulled it off again. Just fell a little short. Bispings face looked effing mangled lol.

Re: MMA thread?
Hard fight to score because of 3 main questions. Was the first a 10-8? Was the 2nd round knockdown enough to cancel out Bisping's earlier good work? And who won the 5th?
For me it was Hendo 1 & 5, Bisping 2,3 & 4 but the first round was a 10-8 so 47-47 draw.
If you're not scoring the fight technically, it looked like Hendo won big on damage inflicted. Was a bit disappointed in Bisping's performance because I think he could have got Hendo in trouble but as he said, he was nervous.
One thing that deserves a mention is Mikes chin/heart/toughness. No on can question that after the Silva fight and now this. Really impressive.
Really happy for Manuwa. Big win. Didn't even look like he put much into that final left hook but it absolutely crumbled OSP.

Re: MMA thread?
I read a RBR and it sounds like it probably should have been a draw. Not a great sign for Bisping fans hoping he'll hold the title long term, but that was never really in the cards anyway. I wonder whether the Rockhold/Jacare or Weidman/Romero winner will get the next shot.

Rousey vs Nunes is on for 207. Will be going for Nunes definitely and I think she's a good chance to win. Ronda will be the heavy favourite by fight time I'm sure so a bet might go well. I think this is the most well rounded fighter Rousey has faced and Rousey is the best grappler Nunes has faced.

Re: MMA thread?
I'm not sure what to expect from Rousey in this fight. I would pick her to win if I knew she was the same fighter that fought Tate and the others not named Holly Holm. But, it's hard for me to imagine that the Holm fight didn't take something away from her. It is in these types of fights (a come back fight from a previously undefeated fighter) that we get to see what a person is truly made of. Wondering if they should have given her a tune up first.p4p1 wrote:Rousey vs Nunes is on for 207. Will be going for Nunes definitely and I think she's a good chance to win. Re: MMA thread?
This is definitely the first Rousey fight I've ever been excited for, I was excited for 193 but that was because I was going and a friend fought on the card. The Rousey fight was the highlight for sure though and it was electric when she got knocked out, the crows turned on her as soon as she refused to touch gloves. Stylistically I think on the feet it will be exciting, I would give Nunes the edge because they'll both charge forward but I think technically Nunes is more profecciant and she's more powerful, not to mention her she looked OK against Valentina while Rousey was embarrassed by Holm. It'll be interesting when it hits the ground as well, Nunes is a black belt and itll be interesting to see how Rousey deals with that and just how good her grappling because it's looked great against average or just above average grapplers but Nunes like Holm is big, strong and athletic but unlike Holm is very skilled on the ground. This was the fight I was hoping for when Nunes became champ I had no interest in seeing a Valentina rematch because from memory the first fight was boring and I think Pena doesn't deserve it and would get flogged.Impractical Poster wrote:I'm not sure what to expect from Rousey in this fight. I've long suspected the reason why Rousey has been kept away from Cyborg isn't the striking because if it was just striking Ronda would take her down and do what she does against most people she's fought. I think it's that Cyborg is a pretty good black belt, is a former purple belt world champ, Brazilian cup gold medalist wrestler and Abu Dhabi bronze medalist.
Re: MMA thread?
One of the guys I used to train with/under was a judge for this card and got a shit ton of grief from American fucktards saying it was a robbery.
It really wasn't.
I hate Bisping but even I had it 3/2. If the first was 10/8 you could argue a draw but the beat down in the first wasn't long enough for me to grant it that.

Re: MMA thread?
Nunes/Rousey is very interesting. Rousey is a total wild card at this point, it's incredibly rare for someone so dominant to get so thoroughly dominated like that, so who knows where her head is at. If she learns to fight a little more controlled I think she has a good chance of winning, but her coach is a joke and I don't have much confidence that she'll be able to make the right adjustments.
Re: MMA thread?
I've seen that Aldo is saying that if he doesn't get released from his contract he's going to "throw" his next fight. Not the smartest thing to say publically. Apparantly it's not just a UFC thing either. He was alluding to the fact he doesn't want to fight anymore generally.
Pena is throwing a fit aswell apparantly due to Rousey getting the next shot at the title.

Re: MMA thread?
Aldo has a bit of a point, although I think he's being a bit of a baby about it. I mean, if McGregor doesn't want to return to 145, why should the UFC force him to? The only legit complaint would be that they've allowed him to continue holding the title for a full year now without defending it. He really should have been stripped after deciding to rematch Diaz instead of returning to 145 to fight Edgar.
Pena on the other hand has no point at all. Rousey is the #1 female fighter of all time. When you have that sort of reputation you can get a title shot coming off a loss. Dominant champs get immediate rematches all the time, it's nothing new. And why would Pena get the next shot anyway? She's like #6 in the division. Not that we should be expecting any sort of intelligent thought from a woman whose favorite pastime seems to be getting into drunken altercations outside bars.
