Stephen Simmons vs Noel Gevor on Friday

Post by TheLeprechaun »

We will learn a bit more about Gevor.

He looks fairly good to me. Seems quite intelligent from some interviews I've watched and does all the basics well. He spoke about sparring Bellew a couple of years ago. I wonder how that went. His performance vs Simmons will tell us a bit more about where he is. I think he wins quite clearly, possibly a late stoppage.

I think a lot of people will sit up and take notice of Stephen when he wins tomorrow
He much wiser now and been looking exceptional in the gym

If he wins tomorrow then he's due massive respect. Hopefully a KO so no dodgy scores. Good luck to you both :TU:

Gevor is a class above surely. I liked him in the Brudov fight. One thing I will say is that he slows down as the fight goes on and I am slightly concerned about his stamina. Otherwise he should have Simmons put in his place all night for a comfortable UD or late KO depending on Simmons stamina

According to boxrec, it was a SD for Gevor. Simmons winning 116-113 on one card. which probably means he was robbed? Anyone see it?

Very proud of Simmons tonight he won that fight of that there is little doubt
Any other country he'd have got the decision but it's one of those ones isn't it

Well done to Stephen first of all good to see fighters take a risk.. Seen so many fights like this where the away fighter just does enough to win but doesn't get the decision. It was a very good close fight I have it by 1 round to Stephen.. I thought worst he could of got there was a draw.. In saying that you have to win by miles away from home to get the decision.. Just got to pick yourself up and go again

Most neutrals seem to have Gevor winning close but clear from what I'm reading.

Gevor is solid but he'll need significant improvement to go beyond EBU level. Wouldn't mind seeing him in with Tommy McCarthy....

I wouldn't mind seeing Simmons-McCarthy either, or fights with Askin and Ovill; I think Simmons is better than he looked against JLD.

Fair enough mate, always appreciate your posts since you're an insider. I might agree once I'#ve watched the fight myself.

How did the germans treat you guys generally? Hotel/transport etc? Do you have any compaints apart from the fight itself or was everything alright in the lead up?

None whatsoever I've always been well looked after, top hotels ect
However I'd have rather stayed in a tent and travelled home with the belt

Not seen the fight so I can`t comment, but what I would say is that Norwegian TV`s opinion isn`t worth a dime. I live here and have to suffer through their commentators on every matchroom show. They know absolutely nothing.

I wish you could have watched the Brook v GGG fight with those commentators. After round 2 which almost everyone gave to brook the commentator said "Another clear round for Glolovkin" They were so far up GGG`s shathole it was absurd.

They even said the other night that Breakhus (Female boxer) was better than Ali as she had never lost.

Not saying Simmons wasn`t robbed, but don`t put any weight and what the nuggets think.

I watched it. It was close. Can`t say I thought it was a robbery, but I had Simmons winning. One of those fights that tends to go to the home fighter, a bit like Masher Dodd last night.

Impressed with Simmons though. He has come on since I last saw him fight.

If that fight was in any other country Simmons would have won imo
