British Boxing Board of Control suspends Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury has had his licence to fight temporarily revoked the day after he gave up his world heavyweight titles to focus on mental health problems.

Fury, 28, has not fought since beating Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 and has twice withdrawn from rematches.

The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed his licence was suspended "pending further investigation into anti-doping and medical issues".

Fury was charged with a doping offence by the UK's anti-doping body in June.

On Wednesday, Fury vacated his WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles, saying he was unable to defend them because of his health.

He will now have to meet with the BBBofC before a decision is taken on whether he can fight again.

He has an appeal hearing for his doping offence scheduled for November.

Earlier this month, Fury appeared to announce his retirement on Twitter, before backtracking several hours later.

He later revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that he was taking cocaine to help deal with depression.

Knew this was coming. I hope he gets himself sorted and they reinstate his licence without too much pissing about.

okay they are forced into a corner and had to do something . But how pointless is this?

For starters, So what? Luxembourg (or other country) will licence him and he can fight in UK!

Secondly, isn't this closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Off top of my head after work at 4am we've had Hatton Calzaghe Gomez O'mera Brodie Fury to name a quick 6 big British names thatve fallen foul of devils dandruff in last few years. Any proactive action?

Huge list of others I'm sure. Brett Flournoy a sad story.

How can BBBOC be more pro active? Educate? More random testing? Or just keep status quo in hope incidents are few and far between?
