Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
Thanks Enlightened-One. I'm a writer though. I have a lot of information about this because I have been trying to start a sanctioning body myself, but only for women's boxing even though the money is not great. At least you can get world-class boxers to fight for a new sanctioning body in women's boxing, but it is almost impossible in men's boxing. The WBF has men's champs, but they are not world-class and usually rate No. 50-100 on BoxRec in their division. The GBU had Giovanni De Carolis as their super middleweight champion along with the WBA, but now he is just going to fight for the WBA title. It just proves that the major sanctioning bodies do not need the minor organizations and seldom do business with them. I agree that the WBU (the one based in Atlanta, Georgia) rankings are a joke for men and women and also they have no women's champions, so all of their titles are vacant for the women. Also, there are a few minor sanctioning bodies that show champions on their websites that are no longer active or they have moved on to other sanctioning bodies. It is misleading because it appears that they have more champions than they actually have. BoxRec will not register all the belts from all the sanctioning bodies even though title fights happen for these organizations. Because of that, boxers are not as inclined to fight for those belts because it may not appear on their BoxRec record. When the major sanctioning bodies got involved in women's boxing, those sanctioning bodies just for women's boxing lost a lot of business, especially because the WBC has so many belts such as Latino, Silver, International, etc. which may be more desirable than a world title from a minor sanctioning body. Many of the minor sanctioning bodies have only a few world champions for men and women, so they are almost irrelevant and usually only the women are world-class and the men "world champions" are not.

I consider the IBO more scandal-free than the bigger four, and their ratings are also consistently better.

Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
boxing needs to have only one world title and less weight categories. people i tried to get into boxing just cant understand why there is that amount of belts and weights, how is that possible that sometimes are fights between 2 actual champions etc. and they lean towards mma more than boxing escpecially because there are no boxer known around the world like Ali or Tyson

WBU cruiserweight super fight
WBU interim light heavyweight european title
WBU semipro super middleweight title
WBU muaythai light heavyweight title
If you want to mix with the big boys of world governing bodies, then what better way to do it than copy the trend of inventing titles for fun.
It's become a more competitive sport than boxing itself

Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
I agree. The IBO title is probably the most credible of the other sanctioning bodies.sucracristo wrote:klitschko, lennox lewis, GGG, floyd, manny, rjj, just about every big name
in the sport going back almost 20 years has held the IBO at one point or
another, and usually when they were at or near #1 with the other organizations.
all of the belts are meaningless to me except for who is fighting for them, so
depending on who is fighting for the IBO they are often just as legit as the others.
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
none, and neither should any fan of the sport, its in enough of a mess as it is without inviting more to the party
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
It's a mess not because there are a lot of sanctioning bodies. It is because they do not always make the matchups that the public wants to see. As a result, there are "world champions" who fight nobodies that are borderline world-class or not world-class. The major sanctioning bodies have created minor titles which is the equivalent of having other sanctioning bodies because these are additional belts.littlepug wrote:none, and neither should any fan of the sport, its in enough of a mess as it is without inviting more to the party

IBO World Heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko vs. Bryant Jennings April 25, 2015 New York
IBO World Middleweight Gennady Golovkin vs. Willie Monroe, Jr. May 16, 2015 California
If they were defending just the IBO it would have been for the World Title when you are not really a World Champion you see without any of the REAL belt's [WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF] The IBO belt has NO credibility that's just a FACT I didn't make that up i'm keeping it REAL................................. Aussie Super Middleweight Zac Dunn recently through away the IBO World Title so he could fight for the Commonwealth Super Middleweight strap

yes it is, and I see your wanting to add to the confusionRScarf1 wrote:It's a mess not because there are a lot of sanctioning bodies. Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
For women's boxing, the WBC has about triple the amount of champions as the IBF, WBA, or WBO because of its minor titles. The WBU in the United States has no world champions and other sanctioning bodies as well have no active female world champions even though they have existed for at least a decade. Basically, the WBC can create all these minor titles and then the lesser sanctioning bodies have no business because of these extra belts, but that's okay, because the WBC has more credibility and they can do whatever they want because they have been around longer. No one else should try to make the sport better. We should just accept what we have. Let the WBA create an interim and super champion. More money for them. Let these "world champions" fight women with losing records or with winning records that only win against opponents with losing records. Business gets better through competition. When a few companies have a near monopoly, they can make their own rules and make their competition irrelevant.
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
Those wbu rankings are comical
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
yeah but you don't start your own org as a solution cos that's whats got us here in the first place, you have to improve whatever the existing situation is, not add to the problemRScarf1 wrote:For women's boxing, the WBC has about triple the amount of champions as the IBF, WBA, or WBO because of its minor titles. Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
They are not going to change no matter how much bad publicity they receive. They are somewhat controlled by the promoters and managers who want their champions to have weak title defenses so they have less risk in the ring and financially because the promoter can pay less if the opponent is not a legitimate contender. I don't have any org right now, but I will when I get a promoter on my side which I believe will be next year. The other orgs can go out of business and then there will be less. They might as well considering a few of them have little to no business.

Certainly more credible than the WBA at the moment.

I just took s gander at their heavyweight rankings and glazkov jumped 18 spots to #7 in November. Why? Who knows? Maybe it was his birthday.
Re: Which organisation outside of the big 4 do you rate?
Why would anyone want to build up a 5th sanctioning body as important? We need to care less about the 4 that already exists, not throw a 5th one into the mix.

I love that David Haye and Tyson Fury are just plopped in there with a bunch of old guys who may or may not even be active anymore
Marselles Brown their Heavyweight Champion has a loss against a guy with a 9-15-1 record just last year. His last win was over Saul Montana

Was it 10 years ago? Lol, haye may want to get this title and clean out the top 10! "Gannon doesn't have what it takes, but he ran his mouth and the people want it so I'm going to smash him back into retirement."

Believe it or not Brown beat Montana like 4 or 5 months ago, and yes Montana is 46 years old.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Was it 10 years ago? Lol, haye may want to get this title and clean out the top 10!
