Suddenly the WBA have NO Heavyweight champions!?! LOL

Post by T.M.K »

Hi all,

although there has been much controversy surrounding the WBA's 3 Heavyweight titles in recent months, the most recent developments have made chuckle:

Super-Champion:..... Tyson Fury = Vacated
Regular Champion:... Lucas Browne = Stripped, and yet to be won by anybody.
Interim Champion:... Luis Ortiz = Vacated(?) as Ortiz fights for International title instead.

Couldn't make it up? Let's just hope they only reinstate one of the title, full stop :TU:

Best wishes,

I read that the WBA was planning on consolidating all of their major world titles, so I guess that means there will just be a regular title in the future and they will get rid of the super and interim ones. The International title is a minor title, so I guess they are keeping those as a steppingstone to their major title. Kind of odd though why the WBA did not have Ortiz fight for the regular title considering he was the interim champion. The only reason I can think of is they wanted to leave the door open for them to be involved in sanctioning Klitschko's next fight as a WBA heavyweight championship along with one or more of the other sanctioning bodies.

Typical from the World's Biggest A-holes (WBA).

Either Everyone is champion or no one is.

Very inline with their thinking.
