wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
don't think this happens any time soon.
they will avoid each other for quite a while,
building their own brand as much as possible.
but once they get in on, maybe after several
fights who do you have coming out on top?

Wilder has fought only one Top 10 opponent and it was the softest Top 10 opponent out there. He's in no hurry to fight the likes of Joshua.

Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
One scenario I can see happening if Stiverne were to win against Povetkin is Hearn matching Ortiz vs Stiverne for a lot of money on a Joshua undercard. Ortiz would then be a mandatory for the WBC since he recently lost his WBA interim status. That allows Joshua vs Wlad to develop, with a possible Ortiz vs Joshua unification in the future. A masterstroke for Hearn if it materializes.
Wilder will likely be out all winter awaiting litigation from Povetkin/Rybinski to conclude in court even if he is ready to resume training.

Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
I would love to see this fight, and think it is a 50-50 fight at least right now. I see both as potential long reigning champs. I have heard Wilder say he wants this fight sooner rather than later, but have heard nothing from Joshua about wanting this fight right away.
,
Both guys have no legitimate rights to brag about their quality of opposition, so I hope we get to see them settle it in the ring. Both hit hard, both have so so defense, both are tall and strong. I would give Wilder the edge in athleticism and quickness, but Joshua the edge in areas like throwing combinations and balance. Either guy could get dropped. Based on what I have seen I would also give Wilder the edge in stamina, as Joshua is still untested in that area.

Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
None, but he's at least got only half the amount of Professional fights Wilder does. When Wilder was 17 or 18-0 he hadn't even accomplished a fraction of what Joshua has now. If they fought early next year Joshua wins by early KO. That's not based on their resumes that's based on the eye test of who I see as the better fighter. AJ clearly has better technique and more skill. Wilder often flails away like an amateur. Joshua would beat him easy as pie.Keko wrote:Good question!BitPlayer wrote:And what hard challenges has Joshua taken on exactly?gilgamesh wrote:Wilder has fought only one Top 10 opponent and it was the softest Top 10 opponent out there. Joshua would each won by the majority of fans no time to it and start working. Let finally fights with top competition.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
So you think Wilder would beat Joshua then or are you just saying that neither of them has a clear advantage?Keko wrote:None the exact answer.gilgamesh wrote:None, but he's at least got only half the amount of Professional fights Wilder does. I do not think. Both have not fought with top competition.
I just want to Joshua finally struggling with a particular boxer. So far, all I see is the hype about him. I do not like his manager and circus performing around Joshua.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
I'd definitely prefer to see both of them fight Top 10 opponents from here on out, but Wilder will fight below the Top 15 as long as he's allowed to. AJ is willing to fight the best I think. He'd smoke Wilder. Wilder's a joke, and even he knows it, that's why he avoids challenges like the plague.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
Ok.
I think Joshua has bigger potential but for now I'm watching just because no one does not fight with the best. Even Stiverne better than Martin as an opponent and that they are the best names that have won

Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
I think Joshua his chin alone already is strong enough to TKO Wilder in the same way Arreola did. I don't understand why some people don't notice he's a hypejob who's belt should be taken away at this moment.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
Probably because he had no real opponents.
logically then.
logically then.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
I can't answer this because a lot depends on when they meet. If it is now, I would probably side with Wilder, but if it was in 2-3 years time I would go with Joshua. Wilder is pretty wild in his style and technique, but he does pack a punch, big long levers and has demonstrated to have a half decent chin. Joshua is good technique, strong, big puncher, but think he needs a bit more ring craft to take on Wilder.
Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
Considering his best opponents are Whyte and Breazeale, who weren't even top 20 fighters, and he's at no stage taken on a fight as an underdog, I don't see what you're basing that on.gilgamesh wrote:I'd definitely prefer to see both of them fight Top 10 opponents from here on out, but Wilder will fight below the Top 15 as long as he's allowed to. Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
I don't think there's anything wrong with gilgamesh's statement, I too believe that Joshua is willing to fight the best. I mean they've just desperately tried to tie up Klitchko, in only his 18th fight, which unfortunately looks like it'll fall flat. He fought Cornish for the Commonwealth, Whyte for the British, and Martin for the IBF title. It was a logical route to a world title. Now he's setting his sights on higher level opposition, and unification fights. If we're still having this conversation in 5 fights time, then I think there is room for complaint.BitPlayer wrote:Considering his best opponents are Whyte and Breazeale, who weren't even top 20 fighters, and he's at no stage taken on a fight as an underdog, I don't see what you're basing that on.gilgamesh wrote:I'd definitely prefer to see both of them fight Top 10 opponents from here on out, but Wilder will fight below the Top 15 as long as he's allowed to. Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
Fighting guys who are in the Top 20 when you still have less than 20 fights on your record isn't all that common these days. Deontay Wilder I don't think fought anybody in the Top 40 or 50 until his 30th fight or so.BitPlayer wrote:Considering his best opponents are Whyte and Breazeale, who weren't even top 20 fighters, and he's at no stage taken on a fight as an underdog, I don't see what you're basing that on.gilgamesh wrote:I'd definitely prefer to see both of them fight Top 10 opponents from here on out, but Wilder will fight below the Top 15 as long as he's allowed to. Fury's progression was similar to Joshua's but he was way younger, and had even fought as an underdog at that point, he also lacked olympic experience.

A little unfair on Wilder here. Joshua didn't look exactly stellar against Whyte, yes he finished it nicely but he got involved early and was in slight bit if bother. Wilder is due mw at least better than whyte and bangs a lot harder.

Re: wilder - joshua: how will this turn out
Too close to call. Both are very evenly matched. I'd say Joshua hits harder and has the better jaw but Deontay has more experience and has fought the better opposition. He's also gone 12 rounds before, unlike Joshua. Wilder is an excellent counter puncher too.
