Total combat tournament

The Unusual format tournament (prize fighter style but bouts are 1x6 min rounds) takes place Friday in London, for what i believe is the 3rd installment Last won by Nick Quigley.

This time its at 11st and will be screened on allegedly around 7-10 days later.

Intriguing list of competitors that should be interesting which involves a current BBBofC boxer, 2 BIBA/MBC boxers (1 of which has only just switched over to them) and 2 Hungarian world champion kickboxers. I dont know the full list and only know those 5 are competing via people i know and on facebook. Will be interesting to see BBBOFC and BIBA licensees competing against each other, although i do wonder how the bbbofc boxer has been allowed in because from what i understand its effectively unlicensed isnt it as its not recorded as pro bouts even though they do have to have done a pro medical and brain scan etc.

It seems to me as if its filmed and organised much like a game show rather than as a boxing event.

Whats others opinions on all this ?

I'm aware of the competitions too. But who is BBBofC licensed in it?
I thinks it's their attempt at Prizefighter to capture the public personally. If it had a bigger platform like BT sport which the first one had it would likely catch on. One thing a format like this needs is recognisable names and the first one didn't really have any known names

Is this that weird thing where they have the clock counting down and the earlier they score a stoppage the more prize money they get?

I don't understand how this tournament makes the money it gives out in prizes! I read Nick Quigley got a small fortune when he wont it much more than he would for a Prizefighter win

I only know of James Flinn in it. Hes skillful, good ama pedigree but he's about 34, hasn't boxed anyone his level in a few years, and I don't think he's the biggest at 11st.

I went down to help a lad competing.

Lots of corperate fat cats in attendance rather than regular boxing fans. Tickets were expensive from what i gather too.

The bbbofc boxer pulled out on the day, so he didnt compete in the end but there was 3 biba boxers, 2 elite level kickboxers/k1 from hungary, the winner of the first tournement they held and 2 other guys id never heard of but believe they are unlicensed lads about to go on the road as bbbofc journeymen from what im told.

Connor stewart, who won the first tournement came away with the win in the end, beating James flinn in the final, although i felt flinn had edged it, also felt connor was very lucky in the semi final against one of those going on road bbbofc.

best 2 lads were drawn together in the first round, Flinn and a hungarian lad, who was only 18 years old and a kickboxer, but the young lad looked very promising having only a very limited boxing past, and id expect him to do well in a couple of years time when it comes to turning pro, especially given the experience of flinn, who won a tight but correct decision. I cant recall his surname unfortunately, kristofer something, ill try to find out as i do think he could be one to look out for in future.

Overall i think it was an interesting alternative to prizefighter.
The programme mentioned a future £1 million tournament that is aiming to attract a few bigger names to be held in america in 2017, which could be interesting

Friend of mine and ex 19-2 pro boxer fought in first one of these. I went down with him. Was aired a few times on BT sport but didn't seem to catch on.

When I went the show itself felt a bit like a 1990s gladiators production. allegedly jnr was behind it at time.

Suppose it's a bonus to have another combat sport on TV, but realistically it's never going to be anything more than a novelty every now and again type affair.

Yes he was very unlucky in my opinion.
