Who next for Lucas Browne??

Post by Redback Rasta »

Not sure anybody actually knows the answer to that question at the moment.

There has been an endless succession of names mentioned though. Including Oquendo, Klitschko, Haye, Parker, Briggs, Charr - and the list goes on.

Anyone hearing any good oil on this one?

Well add Dillan Whyte to the list.

The WBA announced about 5 or 6 weeks ago that Browne and Oquendo had 30 days to come to an arrangement to meet for the vacant regular title. I haven't heard a word since on that.

About a week ago Browne said he was looking at fighting "Oquendo, Manuel Charr or Shannon Briggs, and then I'll fight anyone and everyone."

In that 'anyone' I think Browne was particularly pointing at David Haye.

According to Dan Raphael:

"I'm told by a good source there are issues closing Joshua vs. Klitschko so Klitschko is now also looking at another possible December fight".

Is Lucas Browne suddenly back in the picture with Klitschko?

It would leave Joshua without a dance partner too.

It's possible according to Boxing Kingdom twitter. Though Lucas doesn't know anything about it by the looks of this.

But who knows. :maybe:
“Dillian Whyte is an absolute dick who's trying for a payday. I'm fighting for the WBA title and he's not even ranked,” Lucas Browne said.

“He’s been calling me a tattooed penis and a big baby but Whyte’s just acting childish on social media. How can he call anybody names when he still has 20-0 on his Twitter bio and refuses to take the loss from Joshua, which in my view is his only claim to fame.”

Browne's manager Matt Clark echoed Browne dismissal by adding: "Dillian Whyte has literally nothing we are interested in. Lucas’ next fight will be for the WBA title and Whyte isn't in the picture at all.

Cross Dillian Whyte off the list because he was never on it

Lucas Browne is Wlad's Plan B according to Boxing Scene :

http://www.BS.com/klitschko-re ... ua--109870

The respective promoters for Klitschko and Joshua have both submitted written requests to the WBA, asking the sanctioning body to approve their fight for the vacant title.

If the WBA approves the fight, then Klitschko vs. Joshua will take place on December 10 in Manchester.

If the WBA denies their requests, then Joshua will still return on December 10 in Manchester - and Klitschko will also fight on the same date, but in Germany.

The potential Plan B opponent for Joshua is Kubrat Pulev.

The potential Plan B opponent for Klitschko is Lucas Browne.

It seems Browne vs Klitschko is a real possibility. But a few things still need to fall into place.

Firstly, the money has to be right, and reports are that Browne has been offered $1m, but is demanding more.

http://www.BS.com/wladimir-kli ... ey--109974?

Secondly, Klitschko has stated he wants the WBA title back. So the fight would need to be sanctioned by the WBA. This would seem a lesser problem as the WBA made Browne some promises to avoid further legal action over the drug suspension and he would seem to have a fair grasp of their genitalia.

WBA president Gilberto Mendoza Jr confirmed that much when he explained the reason for the delay with the WBA's ruling on whether to sanction Joshua vs Klitschko as "too many legal matters to consider related to the settlement agreement with Lucas Browne."

Should the WBA finally relent and sanction Joshua vs Klitschko one would think that fight would have to be for the super title, so as to enable Browne to contest the regular title.

Browne's opponent in that case would logically come from Oquendo (who has a legal right to the WBA title fight), Ortiz, Haye, Ustinov or perhaps even Charr.

No Klitschko v Browne talks this weekend, confirms Margules

http://www.worldboxingnews.net/2016/10/ ... s-margules?

Lucas Browne is still NOT in negotiations with Wladimir Klitschko, Browne's lawyer Leon Margules has confirmed.

Browne, 37, is at the center of speculation regarding a possible fight with Wladimir Klitschko, as the WBA consider whether to sanction a unification for Klitschko with Anthony Joshua.

Rumours Klitschko was proposing a Hamburg fight with Browne for the WBA belt vacated by Tyson Fury had led promoter Eddie Hearn to believe Klitschko was about to pull out of facing Joshua on December 10.

As the boxing world await the official decision from the WBA, Margules has stated there’s been no movement for at least two days in Klitschko talks after initially saying negotiations were unsuccessful earlier this week.

The WBA should make the ruling official at some point on Saturday, which would then determine whether the biggest heavyweight fight of the year will take place at Manchester Arena in six weeks’ time.

For Browne, it seems a 'regular' or 'interim' title clash is on the horizon, although it's unlikely to be Klitschko on December 10, according to the latest from Margules.

Alexander Ustinov or Manuel Charr could possibly be contenders for Klitschko should the Joshua fight finally collapse.

For how many days now have we heard :

The WBA will make their decision tomorrow.

David Haye will announce his opponent tomorrow.

Lucas Browne upon hearing Klitschko is injured :

"So now that klitschko is out injured, the question still remains for myself. Who, when, where and for the WBA regular or the WBA super title?"

Lucas Browne will no doubt face Oquendo for an Interim WBA belt, I don't see Lucas Browne getting a big pay day for a while if that's the case, How long has Jacobs been mandatory to Golovkin?

The heavyweight merry-go-round of confusion continues to turn. 2016 is fast coming to an end and no sign of the music stopping any time soon.

The WBA gave Browne and Oquendo 30 days to get a fight set for their regular title back in the first week of September. That was about 50 days ago and not a word since. Meanwhile Browne's name has been associated with just about every rated heavyweight on the planet except for Oquendo.

Yeah looks like it's back to Browne v Oquendo. Unless he gets a Haye fight no big pay day on the immediate horizon unfortunately.

With all the stuffing about and time that has elapsed as a result it is hard to see Lucas Browne fighting again this year.

Oquendo is probably the fight he wants regardless whether it pays him considerably less then Klitschko or Haye. After Oquuendo he may still be relevant. Im not sure he will be should he fight Haye.

As much as anything I think Browne wants to be known as the first Australian to win a heavyweight world belt, and as we know he was briefly, and it sat very well with him.
