Did Sanchez say anything about not giving credit to Jackson, or those words are from fergus/enlightened ?
Jackson deserves a lot of credit including for selection of a right plan against BHop, but speaking about style, Golovkin, Gassiev, Shafikov are all different, but they are pressure fighters and so is Kovalev. If Kovalev was originally trained by let's say Hunter, he could become a different fighter, and somebody like Vanes could have better success if he was trained by Sanchez.

Go to Fight Hype, review the title of the article, watch the video and then submit an educated opinion based on what actually transpired and then apologise for accusing me of making stuff up!
In fact, I don't even know why you responded without making an effort to watch the video!
It's not the first time I've posted a video of Sanchez making silly claims that silenced you.

Sanchez says a lot of ridiculous stuff. We shouldn't take him too seriously.
Re: ABEL SANCHEZ SAYS HE MADE SERGEY KOVALEV; GIVES NO CREDIT TO JOHN DAVID JACKSON IF HE BEATS WARD
Pretty typical of Sanchez lately. He also said GGG beats Kovalev, Ward, and Stevenson without a doubt. He is starting to remind me of Roach.
Re: ABEL SANCHEZ SAYS HE MADE SERGEY KOVALEV; GIVES NO CREDIT TO JOHN DAVID JACKSON IF HE BEATS WARD
There's obviously some bad blood between Kovalev and Abel so i'm no surprised to see Abel say something like this. Because Kovalev was quoted in the past minimizing his relationship with Abel stating that he wasn't under his thumb for long. But that wasn't true as he spent considerable amounts of time in camp with Abel so good for him for speaking up.

[Would you credit a win (against Ward) like that to John David Jackson as a coach?]caldo2025 wrote:There's obviously some bad blood between Kovalev and Abel so i'm no surprised to see Abel say something like this. Abel Sanchez’s reply was: “No! I made Kovalev! Kovalev was with me for eight fights, eight knockouts. That style that he’s got - is my style! That style came from my gym.”
So if Kovalev was indeed with Sanchez for the first eight fights of his career, assuming he was with him for several months before his first bout, then they must have been together for about a year and a half.

It wasn't first 8 fights. Abel was in Sergey's corner during the tragic fight against Roman Simakov in 2011.

Was he the head trainer then though? Sanchez keeps on repeating the same claims over-and-over again, so it's hard to imagine his thoughts being that wide of the mark, but you're right, he was in Kovalev's corner for that fight. However, that doesn't necessarily mean he was his main coach then.boxing_rocks wrote:It wasn't first 8 fights. Abel was in Sergey's corner during the tragic fight against Roman Simakov in 2011.
If what you say is true, Sanchez must have been with Kovalev for his first eighteen fights, or almost three years, which drastically differs from what Abel persistently tells the media (as per the video I've supplied).

Kovalev started his career training at Don Turner's camp for about a year, but according to this
http://www.espn.com/blog/boxing/post/_/ ... th-sanchez
http://ucnlive.com/abel-sanchez-reflect ... y-kovalev/
Kovalev didn't live in the camp as the other guys and was sorta lone wolf.
http://www.espn.com/blog/boxing/post/_/ ... th-sanchez
According to Sanchez,Sanchez guided "The Krusher" to a 7-0-1 mark with seven knockouts from 2010 to early 2012 until a falling out led to Kovalev's ejection from Sanchez's Summit Gym in Big Bear Lake, California.

Re: ABEL SANCHEZ SAYS HE MADE SERGEY KOVALEV; GIVES NO CREDIT TO JOHN DAVID JACKSON IF HE BEATS WARD
You’re right, Don Turner was Kovalev’s first trainer when he moved to the US in 2009… and the Darnell Boone fight was John David Jackson’s first training camp with Kovalev.boxing_rocks wrote:Kovalev started his career training at Don Turner's camp for about a year, but according to this

ESPN claims that Abel Sanchez actually “guided "The Krusher" to a 7-0-1 mark with seven knockouts from 2010 to early 2012 until a falling out led to Kovalev's ejection from Sanchez's Summit Gym in Big Bear Lake, California.”
Therefore, Abel Sanchez must have been with Kovalev for only eighteen months.
So the first seventeen months (at least), Sergey was with Turner, he then spent eighteen months with Sanchez and he’s been with Jackson ever since, which is a spell of 13 fights or 4½ years.
Do you think Turner, Sanchez or Jackson deserves the most credit for Kovalev’s accomplishments, because Abel thinks he’s responsible for everything?
Re: ABEL SANCHEZ SAYS HE MADE SERGEY KOVALEV; GIVES NO CREDIT TO JOHN DAVID JACKSON IF HE BEATS WARD
Kovelev still has Don Turner in his corner at least in recent fights

Kovalev says that he spent a year at Turner's camp and is actually saying
http://www.sport-express.ru/boxing/prof ... a-1047357/
that he "degraded as a boxer" during that time.
It looks like Kovalev left Turner after the split decision in his first fight with Boone. Jackson took over before the second fight with Boone. There is exactly 8 fights between two Boone fights, and progress (if any) Kovalev made during that period should be credited to Sanchez.
Who mostly have to be credited is his amateur coaches, because I don't think Kovalev changed much after the restaurant 6-rounder against Avetisyan in 2010 I just watched.

Here is what Kovalev said in one of his recent interviews:
That matches what Sanchez said about Kova being very independent "lone wolf". Basically, he has been a mature fighter for a long time and is happy to have advice but not direction from his trainers.Krusher wrote:John is a good trainer. I am very comfortable with him. He gives me the freedom to do what I want, just gives me advice and works the mitts.

An interesting take of Jackson on the subject of Kovalev's independence:

I like the filling in of blanks on Kovalevs journey, I think he also lived in North Carolina at some type of Don Turner camp along with Evgeny Gradovich .
