Do you guys think that Zab could've achieved more with trainer like Atlas? Teddy would hold him short andcontrol him in fight, his father was bad trainer for him, or you think that with Zab personality he couldn't be one of the best? Zab let me down big, I still enjoy couple of his fights,he lost to fighters he should defeat with easy, his career was a big waste IMO. What went wrong in your opinion guys??

Zab Judah what went wrong?
This guy had one of the best talent i have seen, but from Boldomir Fight all went to hell.Idk how he lost to Boldomir(i watched fight just still cant get it), in Cotto fight there was tactical mistakes made, he shoulda won this fight, he was counter punching Cotto and caught him big time twice, instead of box he started to fight with Cotto and nobody chilled him in the corner, his father couldn't control him at all, Zab was out of control and lost cause of stupid decisions.

What went wrong is,You Can't Fix Stupid.
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Atlas is shite. Judah did all he could in boxing. He was fast and powerful but lacked the skill and toughness to beat the guys in who beat him. He had a good career. Was never a great fighter in the making tho. Mostly hype.

Nothing went wrong. Public perception was wrong. He was a very good, not great talent and performer who has been one of the most consistent fighters of the last 3 or 4 decades.

Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?

Lol @ teddy atlas being represented as some great force of stability lmao.atlas is as dysfunctional as they come...he fell out with every fighter he ever touched.overrated douchebag.
Judah had a pernell Whittaker training his ass....even that coukdnt work...he had no business losing to baldomir but the rest he had coming he wasnt tough or chinned enough for true elite level

Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
What went wrong with Judah is more than a few things.. Emotionally he was one of the most immature adults I've ever seen.. He was like Tyson Fury on stupid pills.. Zab's efforts to throw his stool at Jay Nady after he was stopped by Tszyu -- and his various actions in the Floyd Mayweather fight -- those acts could easily have gotten him banned for life.. They only thing I've ever seen than was worse was Mike Tyson trying to bite Evander Holyfield's ears off.. How boxers aren't more severely disciplined for actions like those is something that escapes me... Boxing and it's officials are sadly lacking in this respect.
When a boxer bites part of his opponent's ear off you'd think they'd halt the fight??? Were you waiting for Mike to bite Evander's nose off and swallow it??

Not sure about Atlas neither as even though Atlas is great in terms of technical knowledge and will tell you how it is, I think his antics could backfire and have Zab leaving anyway. I think Zab would excel with someone like Nasiim Richardson, Mayweather Sr or Emanuel Steward, who could make the best of his attributes while going ham only if they need to. Same with Mosley as I think he was a bit late in getting Richardson.
He was always as good as maybe the Cotto fight whcih is was definetly focused but I think he could've beaten a few of those he lost like Baldomir where he wasn't focused. I also think he should've stayed at 140.

Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Most fans today think speed is slick. Guys like Paulie and zab are average defenders.
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
That's true... Speed has nothing to do with slickness... Slickness implies outstanding evasiveness, deft countering, masterful footwork, and the ability to thread your leads through your opponent's defense scoring with a higher percentage of punches than your opponents can muster.. Zab and Paulie were never really that slick.. Floyd, Ward, Kovalev, Crawford, Lomachenko, Russell, Golovkin, Usyk, and Ortiz are better examples of slick boxers.
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Hardheadedness. Probably should have gotten away from NYC for a minute, especially his dad.

Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Against Mayweather, when he listened to his dad he won rounds.
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Mayweather isn't just real smart... He has a smart corner and he makes the needed adjustments quickly...
Judah started brilliantly against Floyd.. When you start as strong as he did for 4 rounds -- you should be able to counter any adjustments your opponent is making... It's pretty damned obvious by the 4th round that you have the speed, the pop, the skills, the weapons, and the overall game to prevail.
If you can only make good use of that strategic weapon inside your skull.

Which makes him smart, in my opinion, Kalan. He understands the problems & executes the plan. (I'm not sure if you were saying he wasn't smart or not thoughKalan wrote:Mayweather isn't just real smart... He has a smart corner and he makes the needed adjustments quickly....
Mayweather has a great ring IQ.
Judah had great skills but not a great ring IQ.
Broner seems to be similar to Judah.
I'd rather watch Judah or Broner any day though
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Zab stricks me as one of those boxers that just jumps in and throws flurries, gifted with fast feet, fast hands. He doesn't measure or box. Someone with timing can pick him off. Can't really remember if this was the case, I do remember cotto mauling him. Who would have picked his spots and the poured it on.
Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Not me... No Broner for me...
I never enjoyed a Floyd fight as much as the Judah fight... I'm not sure if that's because he got hit in the balls or not -- and then the furious brawl as Floyd calmly watched like an adult watches children throw tantrums -- too funny.. But Floyd got off to a real slow start versus a guy with quicker hands.. It was interesting to see Mayweather dig his way out of that and take over the fight.. He started talking trash and Judah responded the way you might expect a mentally challenged person to react -- do things completely forbidden by the rules.

Billygoat Holyfield butted his way to 'victory' over Tyson two fights in a row.Kalan wrote:

Re: Zab Judah what went wrong?
Better the butt than the mutt... Biting parts of ears off is a certain DQ... Except for Mills Lane... "I'm taking 2-points and we'll see if you can be good."

I think Mills was taking orders from Ratner as how to proceed.
It was a major bout and the NSAC probably wanted to give the fight every chance to go to a definitive conclusion.
If it was a nothing bout, you can bet that Lane would have DQ'd the earbiter in a heartbeat.
