Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
Lemieux wants it. We aren't going to get Canelo/GGG any time soon. So, why not? I'd love to see it.

Lemieux didn't look very good on Saturday, so Canelo may actually fight him. I got Canelo winning a decision.

I'm with you. I see this as a pick-em fight though. I really hope it happens.punchoutsb wrote:I'd love to see David get that win!

Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
Lemieux has been GGG'd and was not impressive sat, I think this is a great fight but expect canelo to win by late stoppage. Pre GGG it might of been different..
Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
I haven't seen the Lemieux fight but if he can still even make MW will be bigger, stronger and have better stamina than Canelo so I can't see this being made.
Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
Canelo dominates Lemieux. Other than punching power, Lemieux is far below even Canelo in boxing ability, imo. I would expect Canelo to stop Lemieux.
Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
Haven't watched Lemieux's fight from the weekend but I'd be up for this. Styles would make for an entertaining fight. Sort of like a bigger, fresher version of Kirkland. A style that Canelo should do well against but would provide plenty of action for as long as it lasts.

Cmon. Canelo wins easily. Canelo loves guys who come in straight lines. Canelo hates athletic, defensive movers.

I agree that Canelo wins, but doubt that it will be easy. Yes, Canelo likes opponents who come at him, but Angulo was shot and Kirkland had to lose like 40 pounds. Lemieux has a good chin and he doesn't gas out like Canelo, so I think it will be a decision win for Canelo.diddy wrote:Cmon. Canelo wins easily. Canelo loves guys who come in straight lines. It's whatever. I don't really wanna see it, but I'll be rooting for Lemieux to break Canelo's jaw and lay him out.

Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
I love this fight and it's all good to see Lemieux getting some well deserved respect in this forum. I've been one of the many criticizing Canelo and Golden Boy for ducking GGG but I think Lemieux is a good case study as to why GB and Canelo ducked GGG when they did.
Lemieux was a rising star in the sport and developing a nice following fighting in main events on HBO. Lemieux took the fight against GGG in a move that should be lauded and he fought hard and finished the fight on his feet but since then, he's had to start all over and build up his fanbase again. Last week, his fight wasn't televised here in the states as far as i know.
Then consider the steam that Canelo has right now. I feel that a loss against GGG would have a similar effect on Canelo's success. GGG just rips the fame off everyone he hits. As a fan, i'll never approve of a boxer playing games like Canelo and GB did but i can at least see why they did it in my mind.

Well, Alvarez needs to fight someone whilst he is busy running away from Golovkin.
It would be quite funny if Lemieux sparked Alvarez out & then what would Golden Boy do then?

Lemieux has been very clear there is no catchweigt for this fight.

Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
There is no reason for Canelo to be fighting anyone at 160 but GGG. This kind of crap is killing the sport.
Re: Lemieux/Canelo Early Next Year?
Canelo can go and fight Lemieux I have no problem with that as long as it's in early 2017
Should Canelo win and he doesn't fight GGG straight after then he will be regarded as a ducker and not taken seriously anymore.
