Amir khan on Canelo's weight fight Night

Post by lefty »

When I got in the ring against Canelo, I only weighed about 158lbs, whereas Canelo walked in at around 187lbs. That’s a massive difference there, you know.”

I know Canelo puts on a lot of weight when he rehydrates but 32lbs seems just a touch far fetched

Haha. I swear I've seen him give interviews on this before and he keeps increasing the weight with each one. It's gonna end up being that Canelo was 200 lbs on fight Night lol.

Did HBO mention the fight night weights in their broadcast, they usually do. I never saw it.

not unlike the Joe Calzghe, ever-mounting, 'number of times I punched Jeff Lacy in the head' counter (last i heard it was at 1300)....

not when they have a golden cow who drains a lot of weight. EG Cotto they stopped showing, when his in-ring weight as a 140lber went beyond 158lb...

Cotto rehydrated over 18lbs?! fornicating hell. I know Crawford is supposed to put a lot on over night.

Canelo was 172lb for Trout. I've read posters on here before mention he has hit around 180 but not sure how much truth there is to that... seems a bit much to the point it would surely be to his detriment.

172 wouldn't shock me in the slightest. Canelo putting on 20/21 lbs seems feasible.

Liam Smith mentioned the same 180+ figure (vs Khan) in the build up to Beefy's fight with Canelo.

Canelo is huge for a JMW but no way is he 186 in the ring. That would make him bigger than Ward and similar to Kovalev.

I guess not :OhYes: Khan and Smith have to come up with some excuse. It certainly wasn't their lack of defense or ability to take a big shot.

Their point is that they were taking shots from a much bigger man. Cotto/Roach said the same thing. Of course they can't weigh him with his eyes, but there is a reason why he refuses to do fight night weigh ins and needs more than an hour after a 5-round fight to give a urine sample.

Amir Kahn's IQ is inversely proportional to Canelo weight. He doesn't half talk rubbish and should not be listened to.

It seems as if Alvarez's punch has puddled Khan's brain.

Amir shouldn't worry too much though, as he appears to have plenty of time to spend with his money until he decides he wants to enagage in another contest.

This is NOT far fetched at all. I wrestled collegiately and had to suck down in weight in those years and I would weight in at 130 pounds on a Friday night...go home eat and rehydrate...come back to gym the next morning for my my match and I'd weigh 160 plus.

Not the most healthy way to do it but it's very possible and probable with someone like Canelo.

I'm with you on this one. In 2013 agaisnt mayweather he put on 15 pounds fight night (fact). So that's 167. He is a much bigger boy now. It's been three years.

He would have a top team of nutrition experts and so on. I really think he could and does stack on at least 20 pounds. He's the biggest "light middle" I've seen but others are following suit. Those Charlos are not only thick but 6 foot. It's crazy.

I know wrestlers cut a lot but 30 pounds is not the norm for someone that size. That's extremely high and would probably not be allowed in states that regulate weight-cutting now. I have never seen a boxer weigh 30 pounds heavier on his unofficial fight night weigh-in. Even a big cruiserweight like Haye was only doing like 10-20 pounds.

There is no way Canelo is 186 in the ring. He's not the same size as Kovalev.
