"Showtime announces Thurman-Garcia for March 4"

"Much as the network did in March, Showtime unleashed a barrage of fights for its end of 2016 and first quarter of 2017 schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by the welterweight unification clash between Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman, which is set for March 4 and could land at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Showtime boxing chief Stephen Espinoza told RingTV.com on Tuesday."

"Garcia (32-0, 18 knockouts) has a tune-up scheduled for Nov. 12 in Philly against journeyman Samuel Vargas while Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) will go into the March 4 encounter with an eight-month layoff after his difficult fight with Shawn Porter in June..."

Good matchup, but I doubt we get it March 4. Keith and Danny both probably get "injured" a few times before it finally goes down in August.

Garcia doesn't have the balls to fight Thurman. I'll gain respect for him if he actually steps in the ring with Keith. Thurman should get a stoppage.

Garcia has proven me wrong on more than one occasion but after Thurmans last performance, surely he takes the belts.

Surely...

this is a good fight. But I dumped Showtime about 2 years ago so I won't see it live.

Don't me surprised if this ends up on CBS.

What makes you think Garcia will get stopped ?,Danny has never showed any indication of having a weak chin and Thurman isn't a huge puncher.

I'm a Thurman fan but I wouldn't count Garcia out in this fight. Thurman has been buzzed and rocked in past fights whereas Garcia has always been pretty damn durable. He's also got that left hook which you can't write off. Thurman will have to be really on his game and mentally sharp to come through.

Garcia has already fought Matthysse, Peterson, and Khan; who were all divisional top 3 at the time. You have a very inflated sense of Keith Thurman's caliber.

I'm far from a Swift fan, but pleaase man! Danny fought Matthysee when Lucas was at the peak of his terror.

He also lost to Herrera and ducked Postol and Crawford.

About time Danny Garcia lined up a big one.
Guerrero Malignaggi and Peterson may have passed the name test as filler in's but none of them were considered a serious threat to beat Garcia considering where they were in their careers at the time.
Keith Thurman is without doubt a massive challenge and this is one of the biggest fights at Welterweight that can be made.
