B0xnati0n about to up their game?
B0xnati0n about to up their game?
The channel has had a poor Summer and Autumn however Buncey, as subtle and cryptic as ever, let slip a couple of hints about what's coming up on the channel on his Boxing Hour.
After showing footage of this weeks Nordoff Robbins charity night, with David Haye and Fr&nk allegedly all hugs and smiles then interviews with Steve Lillas and David Haye, Buncey all but confirmed the Haymaker will be fighting on B0xnati0n.
At the end of the show Buncey confirmed no live action this weekend but next weekend kicks off around 11 consecutive weekends of live action on the channel. If true that takes us through to the middle of January.
November is pretty much all confirmed so that leaves another 6 fight nights over December and January to be confirmed. Here's what's likely be confirmed but I can't see much at the start of January for them to pick up.
3rd December - Denis Lebedev Vs. Murat Gassiev
10th December - Terence Crawford Vs. John Molina Jr.
17th December - Alexander Povetkin Vs. Bermane Stiverne
23rd December - Artur Beterbiev Vs. Isidro Ranoni Prieto (Already confirmed)
31st December - Either Jonathan Guzman Vs. Yukinori Oguni or Jezreel Corrales Vs.Takashi Uchiyama
Watched an interview with allegedly earlier this week with Kugan. Kugan was fishing in regards to a potential big show in December. Wonder if this is when David Haye might feature on the channel? Head to head with Joshua on 10th December?

Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
The Oguni/Guzman bout would likely be a dual title show with Ioka Vs Stamp Kiatniwat
The Uchiyama card will feature Taguchi defending his title (should be noted that this card won't actually be live in Japan unless TV Tokyo make a huge change to their normal idiocy)
Inoue will be defending his title a little earlier so...it could be Inoue on one of those late dates, and Frank has a fighter or two at the weight

About time they showed some Japanese cards.
Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
Hopefully they are starting to get their finger out! I was giving em til Jan then I was going to reconsider my subscription which I've had from day one!
I didn't know Crawford was fighting Molina? Really? Poor from Crawford who I'm a big fan of!

I am gutted. Just moved in to a block of flats and I don't get signal on allegedly or sky sports 2 which is the one boxing is normally on. Been complaining but it doesn't get sorted overnight.
On another note - quite a few of their fighters were put on a Steve wood show last week, and then they ran a charity dinner show. This should have been on tv.
Don't understand why no agreement is made with Carl greaves who runs a tonne of shows, Steve wood and in return they give some of their fighters a run out. Plus broadcast their own small hall shows, dinner shows and total combat.

Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
Surely there is scope for an ultimate fighter/the contender style show which allegedly could capitalise on?

The Japanese coverage of boxing is...bizarre at the best of times...Fuji, TBS and NTV usually show their biggest names live. G+ show a lot of their stuff live (a mix bag from Oriental level, Japanese doemstic cards and stuff), but TV Tokyo show their biggest stuff on a tape delay of about 1-2 hours.lefty wrote: Why is that? From what I understand it's the cost of airing things live and the ratings, with TV Tokyo actually being a relatively cash strapped channel compred to the other big players.
Strange A-sign don't stream cards live and only one in every so many boxingraise cards are live streamed (typically if they feature a title bout they will be live). Which is odd as it's an online only subscription service.
TBS, Fuji and G+ also do tape footage on delay for things like OPBF/Japanese title fights...all a bit odd and frustrating

I don't want to be deliberately controversial or offend anyone, but Boxn@tion are a British company catering for the British market.
I am a big boxing fan but the only Japanese guy I know is Inoue. And I wouldn't recognise him if he poked me in the eye.
Japanese fighters have unrecognisable name to gaijin, box in low weight divisions and I'm afraid to say look very similar to westerners.
I cannot imagine allegedly improving its viewership based on Japanese boxing. There is not even that big a Japanese ex pat population in U.K.
Now if Japan could produce a serious heavyweight threat I would DEFINITELY want to watch him and learn his name

The main thing I'm saying is that there's isn't a market for it. I'm not trying to offend people. Bit really - how many viewers would Japanese title fight get on whatever platform?Boxerbeetle wrote:This post is wrong on so many levels, I don't even know where to startboxingknockout wrote:I don't want to be deliberately controversial or offend anyone, but Boxn@tion are a British company catering for the British market.

Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
Rather than talk about a Japanese title fight, how about bouts like Yamanaka vs Moreno, that are top 2 or 3 in the world at their weight? Oguni vs Guzman (same weight as few brits), Uchiayama vs Corrales II with Brits again in the weight.
It would give allegedly a chance to showcase a potential opponent for Ryan Walsh, or bouts that could have Butler, or Conlan or Tete against winner

Yeah, very strange statement. In my experience, Japanese people don't look anything like Westernerslefty wrote:boxingknockout wrote:I don't want to be deliberately controversial or offend anyone, but Boxn@tion are a British company catering for the British market.

They have Conlan headlining in Belfast in 6 days against TBA
Also Paddy Barnes pro debut against TBA

Saw that mate. Conlans is a Commonwealth defence as well! No excuse not to have a credible opponent in place for that one! Joke!Naandrew wrote:They have Conlan headlining in Belfast in 6 days against TBA

I'd watch and I reckon plenty on these boards would too. One of the best shows they've put on was that Russian card last year, fantastic fights all day.boxingknockout wrote:The main thing I'm saying is that there's isn't a market for it. B*allegedly schedule's looking strong for the next few weeks imo
Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
i am of the exact same mind. when i took out the subscription as soon as i could work out how to get it i made up my mind i was in it for the long haul.british boxing needs all the support it can get and i had high hopes the channel would kick start some big things. my biggest disappointment is the lack of amateur shows . i have been to some cracking shows over the years ,well worth watching. at the top end of the amateur game a lot of the matches are a bit cagey, but at the local novice level around the country there are some fantastic fights.Stuarty30 wrote:Hopefully they are starting to get their finger out! I didn't know Crawford was fighting Molina? Really? Poor from Crawford who I'm a big fan of!
ditto with crawford, if he is as good as i think he is he really needs to be fighting someone that can give him a hard time and make him work for it. as game as molina is, he is not that man.
Re: B0xnati0n about to up their game?
Do they not show the ABAs anymore? They used to show them and they had an Army show UK v US which my mate actually fought on. He's just turned pro but is still in the army. He lost a close decision that night in a decent little scrap.rab wrote:i am of the exact same mind. when i took out the subscription as soon as i could work out how to get it i made up my mind i was in it for the long haul.british boxing needs all the support it can get and i had high hopes the channel would kick start some big things. my biggest disappointment is the lack of amateur shows . i have been to some cracking shows over the years ,well worth watching. at the top end of the amateur game a lot of the matches are a bit cagey, but at the local novice level around the country there are some fantastic fights.Stuarty30 wrote:Hopefully they are starting to get their finger out! Yeah I think Crawford is the goods as well mate. One of my favourite guys to watch. Seems to have it all but needs stepped up. Even Postol was too easy for him and that was the top two guys in the division supposedly.

To be fair last year they showed the worlds and the WSB. Without BN both events wouldn't be televised.
