Why do we keep voting in the anti-drugs dinosaurs into Parliament then?
To appease the 'legitimate' drugs companies - tobacco and alcohol.

Plenty of the ar seholes in parliament luv a bit of blast. George Osborne is so reknown that another politician even made a joke about it in parliament. There are vids of him off his face on YouTube

UKAD, not the Board, imposed the ban. The full judgment is on the UKAD site - see ukad.org.uk and the "current sanctions" tab. The 3 years runs from Sept 2015, so ban would finish in Sept 2018. Whether the ban is fair is a separate point, but the judgment is worth reading as it sets out all the background, including all of the boxer's submissions.

It's also because the traditional demographic of voters is heavily biased to the over 40's - as they are the ones who turn out to vote, however, things are changing, I'm 45, and many of my friends are former caners, who think that the legalisation of drugs is a very sensible approach, and soon the over 60's will be dead and we will inherit the earth - muhahahahah!

Incidentally, I once went to a party with a bunch of old timers - a burns night thing with Ranald Graham who I mentioned here before, the average age was probably about 65, I was the youngest at about 39, and the oldest guy there doing coke was 80. I remember feeling very nervous someone might keel over and die.I remember waking up with the most horrendous hangover, and wishing I HAD died.

Government knows that the current situation is stupid, but they also know that if they had decriminalisation of drugs on their manifesto, the old farts would vote them out of power. Within 20 years, this will no longer be the case.

Great points.....80!!! Sweet god! I would've gone to that party sounds awesome.

I once went it a pub with an ex pal, and his old man was there. It was 2pm. The old boy went to the gents and came back with white powder all over his snozzle and talking bollocks. He was 65. Quite freaked me out at the time!!

I also used to know some builders and they all said the worst years heads were the old Irish geezers.... insane

It was a great party, have to say, all sorts there BBC documentary makers, ex footie hooligans, screen writers, builders, you name it, it was there, some absolutely great stories that night, I remember one guy telling me some story about smuggling hashish from Morrocco into Britain years ago, which was priceless. Someone tipped off the police in Morocco, and he had to send the chief a parcel hand made shirts from Saville row for several years, in return for him not arresting him, though of course the chief did confiscate the 100 kilos of finest morroccan hashish he had in his car. There were far more parts to this story, but to say the guys there had led many and varied interesting lives was an understatement.

Yeah I used to live with this geezer who was in the building game, a proper nutter he was, crackhead who liked a fight, but for some reason he liked me, go figure. Him and his brother took me to the pub once, and they were with this absolutely insane old jock bloke, had about three teeth, covered in tats, and clearly coked of his face, talked a million miles an hour, telling me some story about how this ex boxer mate of his used to hit people when he heard the pub ring last orders because he thought it was the bell to start the round, etc etc. Anyway, he must have been about 70 - he went to the toilet to have a line presumably, and I was about to say "who the fornicate is that mad jock?" When one of them said "That's our dad." Thank fornicate they pre-empted me, they were both nutters, it might have been laughed off, or not, the latter would have been uncomfortable to say the least. I'm a pretty smooth talker, but not sure I'd have walked away unscathed from that one.

There's still a lot of old boys on the gear, I know a fair few in the late 50's - early 60's still at it.

Personally I think I've had most of my fun in that area already, I'm 45, and don't want to end up fucked by the time I'm 60 with a dodgy ticker. Mate of mine was recently told he had terminal lung cancer which really put the fear of god into me.

Already have, but not that sort of anecdotal stuff, not sure my life is interesting enough to warrant a book, but I've collected some pretty funny stories over the years.

I'd like to write another, maybe about my mum, who was quite a character or maybe another boxing book, was tempted to write one about Danny Williams, but wanted to wait until he retired, fear I may be dead before he does so. I do have a children's book on the back burner, but I've barely time to work on it, what with the shite I pump out here, facebook, my day job, wanking to porn, eating, shitting, sleeping, and when I get the opportunity, fornicating, I've barely time to break wind.

I'm still collecting them at the mo - gives me an excuse to go out and 'research' for the book!

Trouble is, I'll reach the point where I'm forgetting more than I generate. In fact I may already have done - how would I know?

Been on the wagon aside from one slip up, since I came back from spain at the end of September, and the difference in how alert and with it I feel is amazing. Was up and having breakfast at 6 this morning! Was online by 7.00 working, two hours ahead of schedule, then did a workout, and cycled into work.

Truly, I am a boring c**t!

Yes, i recall that we discussed your aberrant behaviour during our last session...tell me stuart, how do you feel about your "little moment of weakness" as you so charmingly put it, with the benefit of hindsight and some time for reflection?

As I said in previous threads, I would love a Boxrec night out with some of you guys, but I think I'd probably die - I'm 35 now and already think I've had my fill of crazy drink(latterly including drug) benders, I had a solid 17 year career but think I'm entering my elder statesman years in that scene. I love hearing about people's shennanigans though, always good fun so thanks for the posts James!

Cheers Fella, I like a bit of banter on here. Managed to go to the pub last night to see my mate's band without drinking , had four pints of lime and soda - and remember thinking 'Christ, I'm sooooo hydrated.' I left as the beginnings of a lock in began to emerge, as I could feel the change coming, it was literally like a werewolf trying to get indoors before the full moon rises, I just knew where I was heading if I stayed.

At 45, the hangovers just get worse and worse, one massive night can leave me wounded for a week, and it's the mild depression and anxiety that lingers around that's hard to bear. I think my big nights out from here on in, will be few and far between.
