Re: Andrade is screwing himself up again
The WBA World Super Welterweight Championship fight between Jack Culcay and Demetrious Andrade is off and will not take place in the foreseeable future.
Team Sauerland won the purse bids to stage the fight on August 15, and had planned to schedule the bout as a co-featured main event alongside the WBA World Super Middleweight title contest between Tyron Zeuge and Giovanni De Carolis on November 5 at the MBS Arena in Potsdam, Germany.
Following the purse bids, Culcay immediately signed his contract and begun preparing for the fight, however, Andrade failed to sign the contract before the 15 day deadline set by the WBA.
After the deadline was extended, Team Andrade still missed several opportunities to return a signed agreement. A final deadline was then set four weeks prior to the bout, but again Andrade did not produce a signed contract. As a result, Team Sayerland’s German television partner SAT.1 could not maintain the date and the November 5 fight was cancelled.
During this time it has been reported that Andrade’s team were in talks with both the WBC and WBO regarding potential world title opportunities, although a WBA world championship bout with Culcay would exclude Andrade to challenge for another organisation’s title. As recent as last week Andrade’s promoters applied for a World Title Challenge at the WBO convention.
Last week, Andrade finally signed a standard WBA contract for the fight, but having already missed the deadlines set by the WBA and Team Sauerland, the fight will not be taking place on November 5.

Re: Andrade is screwing himself up again
Wasn't he mandatory for the WBO title? or was it the title one of the Charlo's are holding?
Talented fighter, whoever is controlling his career, need to be sacked!!

Re: Andrade is screwing himself up again
I think the delay had to do with him wanting to make sure that the fight with Culcay didn't jeopardize his participation in the WBC tournament, so he could fight the winner of Charlo/Hatley. Sounds like a screwed up mess though. Hopefully WBA will make a statement soon and they can get the fight underway. Too bad he is wasting his prime years. I think he is the best guy at 154, or will be.

Demetrius Andrade may be a talented guy (thought I'm not so sure), but his inactivity, weak resume and relative anonymity undermines any sincere claims that he’s the number one rated 154lb-er.
The only time Demetrius Andrade faced a top-tier world-rated opponent was three years ago. He’s only competed four times in almost four years, and barring Vanes Martirosyan, he’s only ever faced anonymous names. He has no fights lined up.
I really don't know what Banner Promotions and/or Ed Farris are trying to achieve with their strange handling of Demetrius Andrade's career, but I've completely lost all interest in the man.
In my mind, Demetrius Andrade is an absolute nonentity on the 154lb weight division.

Sad to see "Boo Boo's" talent going to waste like this. He's got potential to be a top 10 P4Per, but his talent is drying up on the vine with this pathetic inactivity!!

He won't reach his fully potential if he stays inactive or fights stiffs. Lara and Charlos should be his No 1 priority!Best Coast wrote:Sad to see "Boo Boo's" talent going to waste like this.
