Glasgow show this Saturday

Post by Stuarty »

An old mate of mine is fighting on Saturday in this show but I've just had a look at the undercard and Ryan Brawley and Ian Millarvie are both on the card! Blasts from the past!

Brawley never really capitalised on his Prizefighter win years ago which was a shame,As for Millarvie,I never seen him fight but the tabloids up here had me convinced he was the second coming of Mike Tyson

I saw him in the amateurs a few times but never as a pro mate. That's right he was constantly in the papers here then just seemed to disappear!

Brawley was a tidy boxer as well. I won a few quid on him in that prize fighter.

You're correct mate, St Andrews Sporting Club is a Thursday night. This is a Saltire Boxing Promotions show, it's a dinner show but it's not black tie like St Andrews.

Next St. Andrews show is Thurs 24 Nov & will be a tribute to Mikey Towell.

Absolutely, Aberdeen or Monaco? Can't make up my mind where I'd rather be, it's a tough call.

The Beach Ballroom is a brilliant venue though, it's like the Tardis, doesn't look that big from the outside but inside it's much bigger with as good an atmosphere as I've witnessed.
First visit there was 2006 when Lee McAllister fought Stuart Green for the Scottish title. I knew both guys, probably Stuart better & in round 3 or 4 Lee got either a warning or a count from ref Paul Graham. It was at that point I thought "sh1t, if Greeny wins this, I'm the one that's got to announce it. I'm not that brave!!"
Fortunately for me (sorry Stuart if you read the forum) Lee got right back into it & got the stoppage in R8.

It's always a good night in the "Vegas of the North" :yay:
